Over the Hobart show long weekend the guys and girls from TasRok (Tasmanian Amarok owners group) headed west, to undertake the infamous Climies Track to tick this off many drivers bucket list, the iconic waterfall crossing at Granite falls is not for the faint of heart.

Sorry followers for the quietness of late, unfortunately I've been fighting with the black dog, so last night I thought it would be a great idea to get back out under the stars and clear the head. We have been experiencing the effects of a coronal high speed stream and the Aurora viewing over the last two nights has been good. Here are a couple of images from Eaglehawk Neck last night. I hope you enjoy.

I embarked on a journey in February from Hobart to Mt Isa QLD and then thru to Townsville and back, whilst staying in Mt Isa i decided it was far too long between drinks and took the camera out. Ive really had a love hate relationship with the camera over the last couple of years and nearly sold them both. I think its time I get behind the lens some more and strive to take better images.
Thanks for sticking around.

First image: This is a sunset shot over Mt Isa city looking towards the Copper mine.
Second image: Mary Kathleen Uranium mine on the outskirts of Cloncurry, this area is steeped in mining history and how they lifted the town from its foundations and relocated the buildings is just mind boggling.
Third image: Mica Creek Granite mines outside Mt Isa
Fourth Image: Mica Creek Granite Mine
Fifth image: Night shot of the granite boulders at Mica Creek Granite mine.

Yesterday I took a drive to a destination that I have longed to visit, Cradle Mountain. The 8 hour drive and aches and pains today made it worth while. Here are three images from yesterdays snow trip. If you have not visited Cradle Mountain be sure to place it on your bucket list.

Yesterday Leena and I took a drive to Strathgordon to see the World Heritage area under snow. I didnt capture many shots as the weather turned quickly at times and the opportunity was missed. Here is a couple of shots that I like from yesterday.
First image is the sentinel ranges under snow. The lighting as we rounded the bend was perfectly staged, it made for a great photographic moment.
The second is Teds Beach, a natural inland beach on Lake Pedder.
Third image a long distance telephoto shot with my 600mm lens.

Tonight we were tipped off about some Bioluminescence at Dunalley and Eaglehawk Neck, we were on a mission to find the tiny sparkles, Dunalley was minimal and the sunset made up for it. So off we ventured to Eaglehawk Neck and bingo the sea sparkles were out in great numbers. Enjoy.

Happy Easter everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic break and spent time with loved ones.
Last night I took the opportunity to get under the beautiful clear skies we had and take some Milkyway shots before the 90% moon came up and flooded the sky with too much light.
It was a good opportunity to give my little brother some tips and pointers in night photography.
Here are some keepers from last nights trip.
