It’s been one week since we celebrated dad’s life and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

I could have stood up there that day and rambled on about dad for hours but I keep it reasonably short. Public speaking is something I’ve struggled with in the past so I truly believe dad gave me the strength to get through that.

Through out this whole process I have rode the ups and downs and I know that this will continue into the future. Ive been warned by multiple friend’s who have lost their dad that after everything settles down is when it can hurt the most, am I ready for that? We’ll see but right now I just have so much gratitude for the life of my dad.

Scientists say that the chance of being born is 1 in 400 trillion, are you kidding me! And I got the fox as my dad, I won the lottery when I was born. Not only that, I got 40 incredible years with him, 40 years of beautiful moments, hilarious moments. Some of you knew him for a lot longer than that and I know for a fact that you would have a funny story about him. (Don’t be afraid to share those stories with me when you see me next)

I got to sit next to dad in hospital and hold his hand for a couple of days before he left us, and although he was still sedated I thanked him for everything he had given me, I reminded him of the great times we had together and how much we all love him.

Fascinating water 🌊

The way waves bend, twist and warp as they break is something I could watch all day. Trying to capture those moments with a camera makes you appreciate just how fascinating the ocean really is.

I still remember when Brett Burcher asked me to come to South Africa to document his surf trip.

I kind of hesitated, Africa had always seemed so wild (can confirm it is 😂) but I said yes and expected a surf trip with a few sightseeing spots along the way.

What I experienced was so much more than I could have imagined.

We scored waves, ate like kings, hung with the locals, experienced a South African Braai (bbq), hired a car and experienced the wild coast (if you have ever stayed at Otto’s, it’s even wilder 😄) almost had our accommodations roof blow off the house, witnessed multiple dead bodies on the side of the road, looked into a lions eyes from metres away, told to not stop in certain towns to then forget what those towns were and needed to stop to get petrol 🤦🏼‍♂️ and the list goes on.

It’s a place I thought I probably would have been back to by now but the years pass by and closer destinations take priority when you have a young family.

I reminisce on this trip and remember the great times we all experienced. One for the books

Thank you South Africa 🇿🇦

It almost feels like cheating looking back at these crops 😆

While some images deserve to be un-cropped, some images transform into much better images when the crop is worked around the features of the subject.

What’s your thoughts, did some of these surprise you on how much they had been cropped?

I’d never laid an edit on this until last night when I was making the reel on the Fujifilm 56mm f1.2

Now that I look at it, it’s beginning to become more of a favourite of mine. Crazy to think it was just sitting on my hard drive and hadn’t even made it to the edit bay!

What’s your thoughts on this one?
