Art can be many things: escape, aspiration, discovery, healing. For the last two years, art has been all of these to me. This exhibition is a record of my journey into oil painting over this time. It explores portraiture, figure, movement & cinematic mood and serves as a chronicle of my progress as a painter and artist.

The therapeutic nature of art cannot be understated. It’s been a tough few years. While there are many situations and intentions I can’t control, when I’m in my studio I can control the colours, the form and the brushstrokes; I can take solace in the search for the likeness of my subjects and escape into the process of bringing those likenesses to life.

When I arrive at the easel I can always trust the paint and trust the process to Take Me Somewhere Nice.
