In the design and engineering space, Australians have made a name as one of the greatest contributors to the world we know today. From the humble electric drill and polymer banknote to world-changing innovations like the black box flight recorder, medical ultrasound, and even the WiFi that you could be using to read this post right now.
While the manufacturer I’m talking about today isn’t inventing something completely new, they are designing and building a motorcycle from the ground up in, let’s face it, a day and age where building something here in Australia is getting harder and harder to do.
Every nut and bolt, every panel, and every tiny detail has been meticulously designed by the team here in Melbourne, and today, I had the opportunity to ride their first-ever production motorcycle.
While the looks might be divisive, the bike definitely turns heads, which is abundantly obvious from the two blokes having a geez in this post, along with the other six people I didn’t snap a photo of.
Whether the looks are convincing or not, though, no one would be unconvinced by the 200-odd newton metres of torque, which has been mapped so smoothly that, if it wasn’t for the rushing wind and the motorcycle underneath me, I could have been tricked into thinking I was on a bullet train.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time with the bike, and the guys at Savic were great in their openness and willingness to explain things about the machine in as technical a detail as my wrinkly cabbage could handle.
Keep an eye out on YouTube for the review, which will be out soon!
