Bob Munro Photography

Bob Munro Photography I photograph whatever takes my eye; my passion however, is endeavouring to capture the beauty I see in the urban or built environment.

I cannot draw or paint, and am in awe of those who can – what a gift! However, a photograph by Brassai can entrance me as much as a painting by Kandinsky! And so I am moved to express myself with a camera. Like all beginners I was impressed by various techniques, various cameras & lenses – though now I realize they are just tools and that these days almost any one of them will do the job. I loved

photographing beautiful scenes in nature – still do. But I’ve come to recognize that my muse needs more, there is beauty everywhere that it needs to describe. Recently that recognition has focused on the built environment in our cities and towns, no doubt it will move on – and that excites me! For the moment though I’m having a ball with my camera!

I'm very excited to be able to announce my exhibition "Tectonic Poetry" at the No Vacancy Gallery in the Fed Square Atrium in November. Doubly excited because Professor Donald Bates of Lab Architecture Studio, who designed Fed Square has agreed to speak at the opening and write an introduction to the book I'll be offering at the show!
