Sulphur-crested Cockatoo flocks sweeping across the stormy sky during what I call their "last hurrah" of the day. I caught this one mid-flight from my veranda as the sunset painted the clouds pink behind it.

The Eastern Yellow Robin are curious woodland birds with an almost supernatural ability to blend into their surroundings, remaining completely motionless until they dart out to sn**ch insects from the air or ground.
They're known for their fearless nature around humans, often perching just metres away while hunting. The contrast between their bright yellow and olive-grey back serves as perfect camouflage among the dappled shadows of the forest understory.

Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos are surprisingly agile for their size. This individual launched from a banksia tree at Safety Beach.

The extended talons and spread flight feathers reveal the power needed to carry their substantial weight.

Little Wattlebirds are one of those species I've always heard but rarely focused on photographically. These aggressive honeyeaters are everywhere on the Peninsula, their harsh calls echoing through the coastal scrub as they chase off competitors and defend their territories.
This individual was hawking for prey when the afternoon light caught those golden-orange underwing coverts perfectly.
Their underwing pattern becomes this brilliant display of burnished copper when backlit, a feature easily missed when they're perched and squabbling .

One of the crimson rosellas that regularly visits my yard decided to give me a perfect flight photo opportunity this morning. These parrots typically fly low through the tree canopy rather than in open sky, making in-flight captures quite challenging but rewarding when everything aligns.

Their flight pattern is distinctive among Australian parrots, with powerful wingbeats followed by brief glides.

These small wrens are remarkably bold singers, often perching prominently while vocalizing.

Native flowering shrubs provide both the perfect stage for their displays and the insects they need to fuel their energetic lifestyle throughout the breeding season.

A male Superb Fairy-wren during the height of summer, electric blue breeding plumage contrasting beautifully against the dried grasses.

During the dry months, these wrens become more visible as they venture further from dense cover to hunt for insects. The harsh summer conditions at Hillview created that warm, golden backdrop that perfectly frames his cobalt blue.
