The other week I joined a morning photo walk in the city for photographers and models. Trust me to stray off into photographing this gorgeous pup who happened to be at the park that day. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ•

I mean how could I notโ€ฆ look at this handsome fluff ball ๐Ÿฅฐ

I always worry about the pets when a fire alarm goes off. Love the idea of having a clear signal for rescuers to know thereโ€™s a dog in the house.

In apartment buildings I often wonder about having some kind of buddy system, so that someone can check on your pet in case of emergency - even a false alarm can be distressing to those who donโ€™t understand whatโ€™s going on.

Hey Melbourne friends!

Made something for local dog owners that might be useful.

I've put together a free guide covering 8 locations total, with seasonal tips, the best time of day to visit, and where to grab a coffee afterwards. โ˜•๏ธ

It's a proper printable PDF, not just a blog post. Whether you're taking photos on your phone or planning something more intentional with your pup, it should save you some trial and error.

This is Edinburgh Gardens in early autumn, and Winston is showing off an easily missed photo spot.

The flowering gums at the north-east end drop their petals for a few weeks every year. It's the kind of thing I wouldn't notice either until I'm standing there.

I've got notes on timing, parking, and the best corners here and at seven other Melbourne spots in a free guide, link below.

Carlo and Rosa were Fitzroy dogs through and through. Everyone knew them, from the regulars in the gardens to the neighbours around Smith Street. These two Portuguese Water Dogs had ruled the neighbourhood for years.

Then came the reality shock: they were moving.

So before the boxes arrived, we spent one last morning on the streets that raised them. The charming laneways, the luscious gardens and the spots where Rosa always found the highest perch to survey her kingdom from.

You don't need a birthday or a milestone to book a shoot. Sometimes you just want to say: this is where we lived. That's what this photoshoot felt like. These particular, goofy, wonderful dogs, belonged to Melbourne's Inner North.

Moving soon? Or just deeply in love with where you are? That's reason enough.

Every Melbourne park photographs differently. Some are stunning in autumn. Some are better at sunrise. Some have quiet corners most people walk straight past.

I've spent over two years testing Melbourne's parks and trails across seasons, in every kind of weather, with every kind of dog. Now I've put it all into a free guide.

8 Go-To Spots for Stunning Dog Photos in Melbourne covers:

๐Ÿพ 8 handpicked locations, from inner-city heritage parks to coastal stretches
๐Ÿ‚ Seasonal timing: when autumn turns Carlton Gardens golden, when spring wildflowers appear at Royal Park
๐Ÿš— Practical details: parking, tram routes, lead rules, water access
โ˜• Dog-friendly cafes near each location for post-walk rewards

Whether you're a phone photographer who wants better weekend snaps or you're planning a proper session with your pup, this guide will save you the guesswork.

If you've ever hesitated to book a photographer because you were worried it would stress your dog, you're not overthinking. You're listening.

My latest blog post covers the different needs of "difficult" and rescue dogs, what traditional photographers might miss and what it takes to have a successful, respectful photoshoot with these loving animals.
