Patrick Rychner is a multidisciplinary artist based on the Mornington Peninsula, whose work spans fine arts photography, illustration, and graphic design.

As a fourth year student in the Advanced Diploma of Photography at Photography Studies College (Melbourne), Patrick is busy preparing for Focal Vocal at Yarra Sculpture Gallery in November - December 2024.

With over 35 years of experience in the arts and design industry, Rychner's career has been a journey of discovery and creative exploration. His images often evoke emotional responses while maintaining a graphic clarity that reflects his design background.

We are seeking your support to fund our group exhibition and all donations of $100 or more include an artist print by one of the students exhibiting at Focal Vocal 24. For more details, click on our fundraising link below.

Kate Perkins is seldom without a camera in hand and is looking forward to exhibiting her latest work at Focal Vocal.

As a student at Photography Studies College (Melbourne), Kate continues to develop her own creative 'voice.'

"What drives me to do Photography?

What drives me in photography is the art of layering images, merging the old with the new. I enjoy creating unique views that shift perspectives, transforming familiar subjects into something unexpected. It’s about offering a fresh way to see things, inviting people to notice details they might otherwise miss.

What do I consider to be my Genre?

The fusion of fine art and documentary photography sparks my imagination, and I’d say it’s the genre that defines my work the most.

What’s my ideal project?

We all strive for the perfect experience and the kind of project that inspires us to pursue new ventures. For me, the ideal project would be an in-depth photographic documentary focusing on a small community—capturing its people, history, and events."

Kerry Herschell is a Final Year student at Photography Studies College (Melbourne) and will be exhibiting at the Focal Vocal exhibition.

"My approach centres on a keen observation of everyday life, seeking beauty in the seemingly ordinary. I find inspiration in moments that evoke emotion, whether it's the play of light on a city street or the expression on a person's face. Natural landscapes, with their ever-changing colours and textures, are a constant source of fascination. Additionally, urban environments offer a rich tapestry of architectural details and human interactions."
