This was so much fun. Leela is one of those people who just oozes joy. She was a natural from the very first few frames, and honestly, it felt more like hanging out with a friend than being on a shoot! 🥰

She’s got new music coming out in October and I can’t wait to hear it!

Hi, it’s me 🙋🏻‍♀️📸

I’m Lisa, the photographer behind Studio Drew.

I photograph musicians, artists and creatives, which is my dream combination. I’ve always been drawn to people who make things, do things a little differently and have their own unique point of view.

I’m also a painter, I shoot 35mm, I love old films and music, spend far too much time looking at clothes and have a weakness for sunglasses & a good pair of red boots.

I love making photographs that feel like the person in them, rather than just making someone look “good”. I want people to feel comfortable enough to actually be themselves, and then make something beautiful from that! 🥰

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately because winter (yuk) and the algorithm (double yuk). But honestly, I’ve also really enjoyed slowing down a little, staying cosy and having some time to potter around and make things.

But spring has sprung 🌸 and I’m VERY happy about that! It feels like a fresh start and I’m excited for longer days, making more art, taking more photos and sharing more of what I’m working on x 💜⚡️

Laura ❤️ Stunning subject, stunning location!

My mum assisted on this shoot and the three of us had sooooo much fun. The photos might say otherwise, but Laura is HILARIOUS and absolutely does not take herself too seriously! ☺️

I love watching what happens during a shoot when someone starts out a little nervous, then gradually relaxes and realises they’re safe with me. And then something shifts… and suddenly their alter ego comes to life!! 🔥

I think that’s one of my favourite parts of what I do.

These are the final 25 Laura chose as part of her package… and I love them all.

Clients receive a gallery of 150+ proof images, so choosing the final 25 is definitely the hard part! 🩷⚡️

Sometimes I bring one of my 35mm film cameras to a shoot… and sometimes it creates a little bit of magic! 📸

Film is where it all started for me. Before digital, before Lightroom, before mirrorless cameras. I’d buy disposable cameras from the servo and photograph absolutely everything.

I love digital, but there’s something about film that keeps pulling me back. Every roll feels like opening a little present. You never quite know what you’re going to get, and I think that’s part of the magic! 🔮

The grain, the imperfections, the colours… every roll has its own personality.

Took these on my shoot with and I’m a little obsessed with how they turned out! ❤️⚡️

The older I get, the more I realise the best shoots have nothing to do with the location or the gear! 📸

They’re about connection. ✨

Working with Beki and Matt just felt so natural from the very beginning. We clicked instantly. They’re true artists in every sense of the word. Endlessly creative, effortlessly cool, and the kind of people who make creating feel exciting!

The Mavis’s were the soundtrack to an era for so many of us, so getting to photograph them was a real pinch-me moment! 🥹

Creating the visuals for this new era in SRU’s music has been so special! ❤️

This is the second time we’ve worked together, and she’s truly one of those people who radiates creativity, kindness and warmth. Beautiful inside and out, with a voice that honestly feels like heaven! 🥹

Her new single ‘Be Ur Girl’ is out today, and it’s Soooooooo good!

I’m so grateful to work with such talented artists and help bring their vision to life. Go give it a listen and show her some love! 🥰

You don’t need ten locations to create variety. You just need to see one location differently! 👀

One of my favourite challenges on every shoot is finding new light, new angles and unexpected little pockets that most people would walk straight past.

It’s how we create a gallery full of variety without spending the whole session driving around Melbourne! x 💜⚡️

Boring? Never.

There’s something about it that feels raw, nostalgic and full of personality. It’s become one of my favourite ways to shoot! x 🩷⚡️
