Its been that sort of week where the old boys dominate the headlines. Scott Pendlebury broke Boomer's AFL games record to play game 433 but on the other hand the John Carr trained Locked and Ready racked up win number 27 at start 187. While those numbers are not a record (mind you 27 wins is a greyt effort), its his age of age 6 years, 11 months that you have got to admire. I don't know the current record for the oldest greyhound to win a race (Neil Brown where are you????), Sagacious Nomad was 6 years and four months when going first past the post up in NSW and a tassie dog in the 1950s called Baron Ridgeside from reports was 7 years old when greeting the judge. Whatever the record is, Locked and Ready can't be far off it, and he is still going strong.

The man behind the camera Clint Anderson is joining us for the Big Freeze this year.
Covering almost every major race event in Victoria, Clint most recently donated his time (on his Birthday may we add) to join us for our “District 13 Fundraiser which achieved over $23,000 to our local firies!
Clint is often praised by trainers and owners for capturing the passion of the Greyhound Industry, and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree either, with his son Brodie having an eye for detail when clicking the camera too!

Dewana Star takes out the 2026 Sportsbets Warrnambool Cup in thrilling style. Trained by the father and son team of Brendan and Matt Dewan, it was their biggest win to date as a team. The son of Hooked on Scotch and Dewana Classic jumped well from the boxes and while the form guide will tell you he led all the way he certainly had to dig deep in the closing stages to hold off Dramatical who was flying home. Canya Excite Me rounded out the placings.
