I'm thrilled to share that I’ve returned to the Australian Photographic Prize judging panel, this year! Honoured to stand alongside a group of incredibly talented creatives from across the globe, what an inspiring team to be part of! ✨📸

Judge Spotlight: Forough Yavari 🇦🇺

Forough Yavari is a Melbourne-based visual artist, portrait and fashion photographer, and educator whose work explores identity, strength, and cultural narrative through highly crafted, painterly images.
With a background in fine art and over 20 years of experience, Forough combines Iranian artistic traditions with her Australian experiences to create work that has been exhibited worldwide, from national portrait galleries to major art fairs.

Her accolades include two-time Grand Awards at WPPI, two-time wins at the Portrait Masters, and top honours at the NZIPP, Australian Photographic Prize, Beautiful Bizarre, and the World Photographic Cup. She holds an Icon Triple Master, NZIPP Master with Distinction II, AIPP Master, and Portrait Masters Master.

She returns to the Australian Photographic Prize judging panel in 2025 with a remarkable breadth of experience across artistic, editorial, and fine art photography, and a deep passion for visual storytelling.

Since 2016, I’ve had the joy of photographing this gorgeous family, starting with their engagement and wedding, then capturing the milestones that followed. There’s something so special about documenting a journey through life, especially as children grow so quickly.

Over the years, an attachment forms—not just between them, but between us as well. We moved to Melbourne, yet every time they visited, we reunited in the studio, creating memories that now live beautifully in an album. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. ❤️🥰
