Alongside photography I am also one of the Learning Diversity Coordinators at a high school. Trying to create an inclusive environment for neurodivergent kids is part of my job and something that I'm very passionate about.

I've been thinking about how I can be more inclusive and assist families with ND kiddos in preparing for family photo sessions. I know they can be so stressful in the lead-up and take up a lot of brain space in preparation. So, to solve this problem my fabulous friend Bec Matheson Photography created this social story template specifically for this purpose, so of course I had to get it. Thank you Bec. Photographers - get on this!

We as photographers need to be more inclusive and understanding of ND folks. This wonderful resource that Bec has created is designed for kids who are autistic, anxious or sensory sensitive.

I hope that this social narrative will help ease some anxiety that may come up around family photos. Feel free to share with your kids and family members before your family session so they can see more of what it's about, what will happen and who I am. If you have anything that you think I should add, please let me know. And if there is ever anything I can do to help you prepare for your photo session or do during the session, please let me know.

Much love.

A few weeks ago I was invited to the opening of Curve co-op pop up run by Hope & Harvest Joolz Fashion and Kingston Dressmaking . The vibe of this opening was IMMACULATE! The colours. The joy. I had so much fun. This community is such a kind, joyful and wonderful one. It was so much fun photographing everyone (and the food was delicious). Thanks for having me. We also had a fashion runway shoot on the street, which you may have already seen the reel about. I'll share more as it's so good! The pop-up is on Victoria Street in Brunswick and is only open for a few more weeks. Go and check it out before it's over. Sizes 14+. Legendary.

One of the reasons I got into photography was because I wanted to capture people just the way they are at that EXACT moment in time. That especially goes for kids. Time is fleeting and kids grow up so fast. I can't believe mine are 1 and 4.5 years old already!

I love capturing kids at family sessions just as they are. Goofing around, playing with their toys, posing at the camera or making silly faces. Whatever they are comfortable with, I'll photograph. My hope is that you'll end up with photos that take you back to that exact moment; how it looked when your kids were that age. How it sounded. How it felt. That's my hope, anyway. I hope I succeed in doing this.

If you've been wanting to update your family photos, I'd love to photograph you. If you are a return client you'll always receive 10% off your sessions.

I absolutely loved photographing Tia doing a first look for her parents and her bride crew. What a special moment. It was hard for me to stay focused cos of the tears in my eyes. Hahah.

Elise, it's not. That. Deep.

Why am I honestly the worst at making decisions like this?! Probably why you'll end up with a billion photos in your final gallery 😂 sorry not sorry. Just photographer things. But for real, they are so different. Right?!

I LOVED how Tia and Daniel didn't stick with the traditional 'Groom = only men and Bride = only women.' They chose the most important people to be by their side on their wedding day. I love a Best Woman and a Man of Honour. Here is Daniel's team getting ready the morning of his wedding. If traditions are important to you - keep them. If not - buck them! It's your wedding day. Do what you love and with the people you love.

Side note, I LOVED how the decor of the house matched the colours of the wedding. Intentional? I'll let you decide.
