WHAT’S IN A NAME? 💬

I remember sitting at my computer, having freshly left of my corporate job, editing one of the very first portrait sessions I ever did — this beautiful couple who trusted me with their story right at the beginning. It was a moment where I was choosing to turn my hobby into a job I love.
My 4-year-old was next to me, giving all the creative advice only a toddler can (“make them green Mum!”). While I didn’t listen to his ✨artistic direction✨, it was one of those quiet, messy, magical moments where I could feel something new taking shape for our family. This dream, this thing I was chasing – it needed a name!
I know lots of photographers use their own name for their business. But honestly? No one says mine right on the best of days 😅 As I was playing around with the letters of my name, I landed on Brae — my initials, muddled around.
And & Co felt right — an honour to the people who backed me completely when I left behind stability to chase something creative. My family. My friends. They’re my whole “co.”
What I didn’t realise is that session helped shape everything I do for my business. My editing has evolved, and my style has found its rhythm.
But the heart of what I do and why I do it has always stayed the same: To capture Real connections in Meaningful moments.
That’s what Brae and Co has always been about.
