A.C. Grayling - One of the world’s most influential thinkers, at the Sorrento Writers Festival. His sessions were absorbing, and left packed audiences spellbound, by his intellect, his wit, his humanity …. and his hair!

What we did on our Holiday. Chapter eight.

Krakow Poland. Medieval dragons, heroic WW2 Bears, and many pigeons. So many layers of history here, some fascinating and ancient, others more recent and horrific.
The streetscapes of the old town are postcard perfect; no powerlines or poles, cars are scarce, you can walk, walk and walk and never tire of the view. A castle here, a dragon there, beautiful squares, all wrapped up by the winding, Vistula River and encased in acres of green space.
This is the last chapter as we are returning home tonight. I hope you have enjoyed the show as much as I have doing it and experiencing the places visited.
Special thanks to my amazing wonderful travel companion and wife Nikki who is so patient with my constant stopping everything to get the picture.

What we did on our Holiday. Chapter six.
Bologna, city of pasta, porticoes, and prosciutto. (Not necessarily in order of importance!) It’s a city with three nicknames: ‘La Rossa’ (The Red - and not only because of the colour of the bricks), ‘La Grassa’ (The Fat - all the food) and ‘La Dotti’ (The Learned - a city that values education ).
Medieval in parts there are endless streets and passages to explore. There’s food to feast on for the rest of your life. Bologna is not baloney, it’s a smart, progressive, vibrant city with the world’s oldest university and some of oldest dishes but with the best of modern takes. You could spend a day in just one deli.

Camogli Italy , What we did on our Holiday. Chapter five. 🎶When the moon’s in the sky
Like a big pizza pie
You’re in Camogli. 🎶

The Italian Riviera fishing village of Camogli is everything you dream of in an Italian seaside village. Beautiful painted buildings overlooking the Mediterranean, the tastiest focaccia and gelato, restaurants spilling out into the car-less streets, all serving local seafood dishes.
And it’s what’s not here that makes it so special. No International brands of pubs or fast food, no branded clothing outlets, no yobs, just locals being locals, proudly selling local products but very welcoming of tourists who come here.
We will be back.

What we did on our Holiday.
Chapter two.
Tale as old as time….
The fairytale villages along the Alsace wine route are more enchanting than Disney could ever create. Walking through and getting lost in the medieval towns of Colmar, Eguisheim & Riquewihr you wouldn’t be surprised if around the next corner we will bump into Belle, Gaston or the Beast. And the there’s the wine and many golden retrievers
