Happy Mother’s Day to the wonderful women in our lives who would go to the end of the world and back to take care of us, raise us and support us well after we embark on our own journeys.
To Gwendoline Krumins Art who has been the cornerstone of my life, my biggest cheerleader and source of inspiration and of course to Laura who is nurturing those same values to my daughter Isla I say thank you.
Why a whale photo you ask? Well, every year, humpback whale mothers leave the icy feeding grounds of Antarctica and migrate thousands of kilometres to the warm waters of Tonga to give birth and raise their calves. Along the way, these mothers sacrifice so much of themselves with nothing to eat to survive yet still providing, protecting, guiding and teaching their young through one of the longest migrations on Earth.
It’s a remarkable reminder that motherhood, whether human or wild, is built on sacrifice, strength, patience and unconditional care.
To all the mums, grandmothers, stepmums, carers and mother figures out there — thank you for everything you do, often quietly and without recognition. Today we celebrate you. 💙
