One of the most incredible nights of my life, one that i will cherish for the rest of my life. Seeing the sky get lit up with beams of red & green, you'd think the heavens are opening up. A moment for many what felt like a spiritual connection with the universe. I don't think i blinked more than twice the whole night, but one things for sure we definitely made history last night with this Aurora show.

05.06.2023 - Last night the cloud coverage was 68% when we arrived to Cape Schanck, then increased to 98% within the first 15 minutes. The odds were completely against us. We waited... & waited... until we decided to go down the stairs & set up base within the rock pools behind the mountains. (The tide was surprisingly low, never seen it this low before). As we set up base, I lost my footing & stepped into a few rock pools, exciting. As well as a few crabs accompanied me as I took these shots, very fun little buggers they are. Even though the Aurora wasn't as strong, the sky definitely was full of life. Huge thank you to the couple from Tasmania for joining in on the adventure & trusting us with this spontaneity.. Enjoy.

Ventured through the heart of Central Victoria, chasing the peaks summiting peaks, and discovering the secrets of forgotten treehouses where only whispers can be heard from tales of days gone by.

Last night, the Aurora was off the charts at -1000 nT!!! When i got the alert at 10:00pm last night, I didn't even think twice, I packed my camera gear & raced down to Cape Schanck. The risk of missing this insane phenomenon was at all time high, as well as Cape Schanck being 1 hour away from me just added to that fire... As we ran to the top of the mountain, we took our tripods & cameras out... & all our jaws dropped when we saw on our cameras for what felt like the whole night sky completely lit up with emerald and amethyst colors. This honestly felt like a cosmic masterpiece. These pictures are a memory of nature's wonder and a reminder of the magic our world holds. So very grateful I got to see this & I hope you all can appreciate the experience through my photos!🌌📷✨

STEVE, also known as a "strong thermal emission velocity enhancement," is a rare phenomenon that was officially discovered in 2016.

I still can't believe i was in the midst of it all last night. The tube ribbon like lights were completely visible to the naked eye. It was unlike anything I've ever witness before, almost like lit up piano keys were played one after the other.

Just as STEVE left the skies, the Aurora came by to say the final hello & left within a couple of minutes. Managed to capture her right behind the mountains.

I hope you all enjoy these photos, they were not easy to take. If I'm honest I was running around from one end of the beach to the other, battling thru the ocean mist & blinding fog, had my fingers crossed the whole night that the clouds & moon didn't over power this insane bursts of events.
