Phare de Diélette
The Point light (Phare de Diélette) is located on the western breakwater of Diélette harbor in Flamanville, Normandy, France. The current cylindrical masonry tower was built in 1897 after several previous lights had been swept away by storms and high tides.

The green topped white round turret, measuring approximately 9 meters in height was automated in 1906 and despite no longer requiring resident keepers, remains an active aid to navigation.

Whilst the lighthouse structure itself is beautifully presented, the pier shows the wear-and-tear of operating for almost 130 years with standing the ferocity of the ocean.

Whilst scouting shooting locations in the Yarra Valley I was taken by this tree perched resolutely atop this rolling hill. The post and rail fence drew me in and the gravel laneway left me wondering what lies beyond the crest of the hill.

My goal is to channel my artistic expression into advocacy for civil liberties/human rights.

Achieving this by including a limited edition framed print in the Liberty Victoria silent auction at their 2025 Voltaire fundraising dinner last Friday night made me happy to have supported such a strong, good organisation.

Minimalist Photography Awards 2025
It was lovely to wake up this morning to the news that I have received an Honourable Mention in the Minimalist Photography Awards 2025. It is indeed a pleasure to have been included in such illustrious company.

I shot this lighthouse in Deauville when travelling with last year. The structure is so small I had to shoot it from the deck to get this composition.

Finally, I broke with my normal practice and went with colour instead of monochrome!

The Coat Hangar

The 'Coat Hanger' is an iconic landmark that spans Sydney Harbour. Featuring in the top ten longest spanning-arch bridges in the world, the Sydney Harbour is also the tallest steel arch bridge measuring 134m from top to water level.

This calm scene contrasts the huge number of vehicles, pedestrians, trains and water craft of all sizes that passes across and below this magnificent structure each day.

Brighton West Pier
Steel poles emerge from the stones as a stark reminder of the once famous landmark, Brighton West Pier, England.

Built in 1866, the pier originally featured a concert hall before being transformed into tearooms and a fun fair. The pier was closed to the public in 1975 and has suffered at the hands of severe storms and now only parts of the derelict structure remain.

One of my favourite Melbourne piers, adjacent to the Albert Park Angling and fishing Club, it was built in 1878. Long Exposure 4 Minutes.⁠

Point Roberts, USA - The posts.
