Money; we all touch it, we all need it, but there aren’t many safe spaces to talk about it openly: how it’s collected, how it’s organised, how it can support our personal future, and crucially, giving the joys of care and frugality an equal platform to the trend of abundance.

So we made a space, and it’s just for us. You need to be a current, active working photographer to join.

Here’s a few of the conversations happening in there.

More opportunities to create and share things (it’s never been this easy) creates more opportunities for comparison and a higher likelihood of trying to fit into existing models of doing things.

So risk-taking isn’t actually risky, because the people that you make work for are probably itching to see (and buy into) your crazy ideas that will stand out from everything else they’re being flooded with.

What does this look like in practice? Maybe it’s creating incredibly clear adventure-elopement offerings, or maybe it’s asking yourself what your friends find odd about you, and then finding a way of weaving that into your copywriting, design, meeting style, and so on.

.ai claimed their artificial intelligence editing software can save up to 75% of your editing time. If you spend 1-2 full days editing an entire shoot, that’s a lot of time saved.

What would you fill that time with?

Swipe across for a few suggestions.

The legends themselves at Imagen have linked up with us for a live Q&A to share what they do and how it might fit into your workflow. AI is the future of editing - it might not replace you, but even if it nails your white-balance and exposure, let alone applying your look and getting your images 75% there, that’s an enormous time-saving that can be put towards other things that move you forward.

Join us tomorrow for a live Zoom and ask any questions directly to Imagen, at 4pm AEDT.

Good morning, here’s a random thought for the day.

You aren’t getting paid to play with a camera, you’re getting paid to pay attention. To find all the strange little in-betweens and majestic tiny moments that will mean something to someone else.

Etc.

How would it change your work to pay even more attention and sit in stillness?

In the future, our cameras will probably edit our work the instant we take the image.

Post production will be a thing of the past.

For now, post production consumes about 90% of your time as a photographer. Fortunately an incredible slice of the future is already here: Artificial Intelligence editing, for .

And the leaders in that space, .ai, say they can save over 75% of your editing time. That’s a pretty compelling prospect.

Imagen AI learns your style based on galleries you have already edited, and can absorb and return a finished gallery to you within about 20 minutes. That’s wild.

Curious?

Join us next Wednesday 20th where Imagen AI hang out with us for a Q&A. Join our Facebook group to get access to the event.

Here’s an idea we shared in Rome 6 years ago. Maybe you were there? It goes like this. Every photo has something from these 8 buckets. Most of us default to an intersection of just a few of them. Making new work and evolving your style might just mean tweaking a couple of them.

And in each bucket is a infinite number of variables. What’s your intersection?

Someone should make an app about that…

If we just assume that the move from analogue to digital happened in the year 2000, that means the world of analogue has an over 100 year head-start on different types of glass and different types of formats: and they’re all still out there being traded and refurbished on eBay and in Facebook analogue groups.

Since the glass we use and formats we use have a literal impact on the stories we make and what someone feels when looking at them, that alone is a pretty radical reason to dive into the massive world of analogue, especially as that top triangle gets smaller and smaller until it just says “A Canon and some RF lenses, probably”.

Swipe over to see what two pieces of battered gear 100 years apart look like fused together.

And a Speedlite.
