A couple of months ago, I got to explore Osaka with a good friend. It was a somewhat spontaneous idea because we were supposed to meet in the Philippines, until he took a few extra days off and pitched a short Japan trip.

We dined with strangers, explored the most interesting speakeasy-styled bars, went on a slow Japanese whiskey journey, ate delicious food, walked until our feet were sore, met up with family, and took in as much as we could in 5 days. I owe Japan a slower trip, one where I learn more about the culture and history, but we had a memorable time. The next series is dedicated to this trip across Osaka, some Kyoto, and my observations 📸

Not going to lie, folks. Despite the chaos (which I’ll expand on eventually, because it’s misunderstood), I fell in love with Manila. I’ll be back soon 🙏

Early morning in Quezon City. I’m walking around with over 20 photographers, finishing a walk through a memorial park. This boy’s already been at it. I noticed him from a distance catching up with his friends before he pushed right past us, banana leaves in tow. He barely looked over. He has somewhere to be.

His sister stopped me after I took his photo walking through a park in Quezon City. She told me it made him happy to have his picture taken.

He was deaf and mute, so we couldn’t speak. I offered to take another shot and print him a copy on my instant printer. He was thrilled. He took off his apron, did up his hair a lil bit, and we snapped the second to last slide.

I kept talking with his sister and learned about her stall. She’s been running it for years, and was once invited to showcase her recipes on national TV. One by one, she had me try every dish 🤯 All of them delicious.

Before saying goodbye, I grabbed her portrait too, and a quick selfie with the family (last slide). Now I have a few friends at the park 😄
