It’s that time of the week when I sit in the car waiting for dance class to start and end, and I either call a friend or attempt to put together a social media post. I have zero petrol in the tank to talk to anyone so here I am with a post, but with no idea what to say (and don’t suggest ChatGPT, I always want to be me…). But what I can say is that it was a super fun shoot from a few months ago and these photos have been sitting on my phone for a while!

Amongst all the random garden/flower stories and posts, I am busily editing away in the background, working on photoshoots with mainly our guests at the moment who are choosing to have a session on and around our property. For those who have one coming up with me, please kindly keep bubble wands, balloons and any other items in the cottage and not out with us. I like to keep everything nature based so let’s go and find a stick, a pretty flower or whatever else takes our fancy in the forest…I guarantee there will be at least 1 thing your kid enjoys in there. Remember to wear practical footwear too so we can have a bit of fun (heels and gumnuts are not a good mix..!!).

Flowers grown by me and picked today from my garden. The rabbits are loosing and I’m finally winning. In other garden news, the quendas have now moved in and enjoying drilling holes everywhere just to throw a curveball. I’m not giving up.

When I’m not shooting, editing or driving the kids to/from their daily activities, I’m spending most other daylight minutes either gardening or thinking about my garden at the moment and I love it. I call it my version of therapy. It’s somewhere I can be creative for myself (without picking up my camera all the time), play with colours and textures, and fail without consequence (and I have failed many many times..). I’m evolving with it, the bees are loving it and it keeps me happy, healthy and outside in nature and fresh air. Here’s a few photos I took at the inspiring and very beautiful The Garden of St Erth when I took myself there in March.

Paris part 2 on my little Fujifilm Photos Australia camera. Most captured before 10am as I don’t do crowds, and a few taken post 8pm when the sun was setting. I loved wandering the streets around the Latin Quarter where we stayed, croissant in one hand, camera in the other. What I didn’t love was how the instagramers seemed to all stand in 1 exact spot, as if x marks the spot for a great photo. Please have a scroll through, there’s some pretty ones in here I promise.

Did you spot that little push from Mum?! I’ve been photographing this beautiful family for a number of years now, and as these twins get older (and perhaps just a little less playful as they head into their teenage years), I think we’ve discovered the winning formula for next year’s session… getting them back into the ocean, with or without a gentle nudge from Mum! Watching the joy on their faces was a highlight for me, as was catching up with their parents for our annual chat whilst I shoot. It’s one of my favourite parts of photographing families year after year—seeing how much the kids have grown but continuing on with conversations as if it were last week when we last chatted.

After looking through all my photos from our trip, it seems I’ve been reunited with my penchant for taking photos of random front doors and windows. For a while, it was always boats on the water, but perhaps that love disappeared after the time I thought we’d never actually make it to the Gili Islands alive last year. Those who’ve been on some of those boats will know exactly what I’m talking about. Anyway… here are some of my favourite random captures from Amsterdam. A couple are of houseboats, so I guess my love of photographing boats hasn’t completely disappeared after all.

Amongst my holiday photo dumps, I thought I’d send a quick update on my availability for the rest of the year. I’ve now updated my website post holiday catch up , which you can find under the Contact Me page. In a nutshell, I’m fully booked for August and September; October is starting to get booked up but still some availability over Oz and SG/HK expat school holidays; November is fairly open. I will have limited slots available this December so I can enjoy some of the fun festive period with my kids; I’m yet to be able to confirm earlier Dec requests whilst I await certain dates / times relating to some important kids end of year (and primary school for the boys!) activities that I need to attend, but please do anyway drop me a message so you can be on the waitlist!

AMSTERDAM // My most favourite city we visited on our epic trip to Europe for sure! A photographers paradise and artist/creatives dream I’d say. We were there for 4 nights but I wish I had longer to enjoy more of the incredible art galleries and museums the city has to offer. We stayed in the awesome family friendly in a beautiful part of the city, where we walked to almost everything we did and wanted to see (kids stopped moaning about walking by this part of the trip which helped). Highlights included a very personal, informative and intimate boat tour through the canals with , the very unique Our Lord in the Attic museum, wandering the beautiful streets and along the canals (minus the main tourist trap area & red light district..), the Rijksmuseum, a gentle bike ride around pretty Broek in Waterland with barely a tourist in sight, followed by something we all absolutely loved and was different to anything we’d done which was . We did however save the best to last - the Ann Frank House - anyone visiting in the future we’d highly recommend booking the additional Intro tour which was fascinating for us all and probably the best history lesson the kids have ever got. I had to put a reel together for the memory box with my rubbish iPhone photos and videos but again, some pretty photos will follow. Big shout out to my friend .explores.europe for all her helpful tips from when she lived there and inspiring me to go, thank you Em x
