The truth? I forgot my husband’s birthday. 😅

I had the gifts. I had the card. I’d been so organised…

But after a night of being kicked by a 4-year-old in my bed (risky move, I know) and running on no sleep, I woke up on June 23rd absolutely wrecked — and completely unaware it was the day.

He left for work, and it wasn’t until an hour (and two coffees) later that I saw the date on my computer and it hit me…

Cue: the guilt spiral.

He’s been hearing all week about our daughter’s birthday plans, and meanwhile I couldn’t even say “Happy Birthday” before he walked out the door. 🙃

Then, while working through this gallery tonight from a 23-person (!!) family shoot, I found this photo — of me.

A surprise snap my husband quietly took in the middle of the chaos.

He stopped, mid-mayhem, and thought: “She’ll want to remember this.”

And I just… lost it. 🥹

Sometimes we’re so busy putting everyone else first — the kids, the work, the laundry, the birthdays we do remember — that we lose track of our partners… and even ourselves.

So here’s to the real MVPs: the ones who love us through our forgetful, sleep-deprived, overstretched, doing-our-best seasons.

And who remember to take a photo of us when we’re too busy capturing everyone else.
