Some weddings you photograph. Others you feel. You carry them home with you, replaying moments long after the last dance.

Taryn & Conor’s was the latter.

The entire week leading up to their day brought nothing but rain. The kind that makes you quietly anxious on behalf of a couple who deserve nothing short of everything.

But their wedding day arrived like a exhale; golden skies, the most magical afternoon light, and that crisp, cool autumn air that only finds you when you’ve been dancing too hard and you step outside for a moment to catch your breath.

Their love is not loud.

It doesn’t announce itself or perform for a room. It travels deep, settles in, and holds steady. And every single person who was chosen to stand witness to their day reflected the same intentional warmth right back to them.

Days like this are why I do what I do.

To all the parents of teenagers…

It doesn’t matter if they roll their eyes. It won’t phase me if they’re less than enthusiastic. I’ll still show up with my daggy jokes and millennial music, and you’ll still have a moment together to capture the season you’re in.

Here’s what I know after years of doing this: teenagers are contractually obligated to act like they don’t want to be there. But somewhere between the groaning and the “Mum, STOP!” there are real, genuine laughs.

And real, genuine love.

They may not get it now. But one day… maybe when they’re grown, maybe when they have their own kids rolling eyes at them, they’ll scroll back to these photos and feel so grateful that Mum made it happen anyway.

And if you’re on the cusp of your final few Summers with them or they’re about to embark on the next phase of their lives, you’ll be so grateful for stealing this hour together, just for you. Because the teen years are just as fleeting as the little years.

Ten years.

Not the highlight reel version of ten years. The real one. The one with weight in it, and growth, and the quiet kind of love that holds you steady when life decides to be relentless.

Nobody tells you as a kid what adulting actually costs. The beliefs you’ll have to unlearn. The load you’ll carry for your own children that you never saw coming. The slow, sometimes uncomfortable process of actually discovering who you are, and what you stand for, and what you need.

These two have done all of that, side by side. And you can feel it in the way they move together. The ease. The clarity they seem to draw out of one another just by being close.

That is not a small thing. That is one of life’s most beautiful gifts.

I walked away from this session feeling like I’d scored two pretty incredible friends, which is honestly one of my favourite things about this work. You let me into something real, and I don’t take that lightly.

Happy ten years you two. Here’s to all the unlearning, the growing, and the beautiful mess of figuring it out together.

Just the two of them. With their dogs.

And me alongside the property manager, honoured to sign as witness.

No seating plan, no centrepieces, no timeline running off the rails. Just a quiet, intentional yes to one another in a space that felt entirely, unapologetically them.

I’ve photographed big weddings, the full production, the hundred guests, the beautiful chaos of it all, and I’ll tell you this honestly: the love in this elopement held just as much weight.

Just as much beauty.

Just as much significance.

There are no rules when it comes to how you marry. There is only one goal; to mean it.

If you’ve been quietly dreaming of something smaller, something more you, this is your permission slip. Your love story doesn’t need an audience to be valid.

Beautiful Shiva, 39+6

One reschedule due to rain, and we squeezed in this last minute maternity session on the first sunny afternoon before bubs arrival.

It was only afterwards that I was told that a hospital visit prior to our shoot had left her in an unsteady headspace. But after our time together, she was feeling more at peace and proud of what she’d accomplished within herself, which is more than I could ever ask for.

I love hearing your stories, offering my own, and learning that through our time together you’ve been reassured and empowered as you step into this new season of life.

And if you’re on the fence about having maternity photos taken, let this be your sign to book it in. Shiva was very tentative at the thought of photos but is so grateful now to have these.
