I became interested in photography in the 80’s using a canon film camera. I transitioned to digital in 2006 and am enjoying photography more than ever. A dive into the archives again and a spot that I didn't go to all that much. Looking at the photos, I wonder why. This is a hidden little part of Lake Maroon in Southeast QLD.

There have been some epic sunrise and sunsets just lately. As I have been very lazy and have not got out of bed to get some photos, I have resorted to the archives again. This a sunset taken a couple of years ago at Sunset Bay. Maybe this weekend will be time to get new shots.

Another day of exploring. This time it was Seaforth and the Redcliff Islands. Some beautiful scenery, so many coloured rocks in the cave and rocks that looked like someone spilt paint on them (but they didn't).

I had an absolute blast photographing the incredibly talented Mr. Frank Sultana when he was in Mackay this week! 📸 His performance was truly captivating and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to capture his energy on camera. 🎸 Mr. Frank Sultana absolutely stole the show at the Mackay Blues Club Blues Jam, delivering an unforgettable night of fantastic music that left everyone in awe. I'm still buzzing from the excitement! 😍 Looking forward to the highly anticipated Women in Blues show coming up on May 29, which promises to be another unforgettable night of soulful melodies and exceptional talent. 🎶 Can't wait to see what's in store! 🎉

After seeing everyone’s photos of that absolutely stunning sunrise on Saturday — the one I slept through — I figured I’d better make up for it. So on Sunday I headed out to Shoal Point.

The colours weren’t quite as dramatic, but there’s still something special about being out there at that time of day. The quiet, the light, the feeling that the world is just waking up… it’s always worth the effort.

Another reminder that even the “less spectacular” moments can be pretty special in their own way.

Wow, what a week. Hard to believe the Mackay Blues Club’s amazing Blues by the Beach afternoon was only last Sunday — it already feels like a blur.

I’m only just getting to the photos now, but what an incredible afternoon it was. Quality blues music, great company, and that unbeatable Seabreeze atmosphere… it all came together perfectly.

Really looking forward to the April Blues Jam, and especially Women in Blues coming up in May. Plenty more great music on the way.

What a brilliant night at this week’s Mackay Blues Club Blues Jam at the Seabreeze Hotel

I really did enjoy getting behind the camera again — there’s just something special about capturing musicians in their element, surrounded by a crowd that truly loves live blues.

The energy, the talent, the atmosphere… it all came together perfectly.
If you missed it, make sure you don’t next month. These nights are something else.

I know I keep saying it… but I really do need to get out and take some new photos.
The weather hasn’t exactly been playing along lately, so here’s another one from the archives.

This shot was from a trip to Melbourne, wandering the laneways with friends — such a great way to spend an afternoon.
