My first two babies, I birthed in the birthing centre pool.
But with My 3rd baby, Jack, I birthed him standing up, after only 1 hour and 20 minutes from the first sign that I was in labour.
I felt like I was doing ok and had this thought that we would make it to the birthing centre, but alas, as I was walking, jack was descending and for some reason I was unable to take anymore steps.
I braced a chair in the foyer of the hospital and kneeled down at 2:12am then after a minute or 2 of the longest contraction, all of a sudden I had this strong urge that I could not control and with that, I stood up and birthed him straight into his fathers’ arms.

Hello and welcome to Melissa Jade Birth Photography!

My name is Melissa Mackedie – a passionate birth photographer and Mum to 3 beautiful children. I have been documenting births for many years and it all started after having my own births' photographed. I will forever cherish my birth journeys and know just how important all the tiny details are.

I specialise in everything bump, birth & beyond. I love capturing beautiful pregnant bellies and darling newborn babies to boisterous kids and even the dad's that are not so keen on being in another family photo.

I am originally from the Gold Coast where I was capturing and documenting all things love, life and family. I am now based in Mackay, Queensland and am ready to take on new clients as they journey through this magical space.

Being present in the birth suite for support and photography is something that I absolutely cherish!! I adore each and every one of my families and the beautiful images that I get to create for them.

Having a baby is such a special time in a couples life whether it's their first, second, third or even fourth. My aim is to document the birth process and produce beautiful images that celebrate you as a new family, the beautiful moments that you share and the love that you feel when you meet your new precious bundle.
