These last few weeks, when the jacarandas have in full bloom, I've been super sad that I'm not photographing my awesome families at the moment. But in saying that, I'm also not ready to dive back into full time snapping just yet. The last 4 months have been the most emotional, overwhelming, hectic, stressful and exhausting time of my life and I'm still trying to navigate the new norm for our little Photopia family without Robert by our side.

Thank you to all those wonderful peeps who have messaged to check on me, and also to enquire about photoshoots. For the timebeing, I'm not taking any bookings for photoshoots until I make a decision about the future of Photopia Creations in the New Year. If you have a gift voucher and would like to organise a refund, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

I know that some of you were keen for a Christmas shoot or organising extended family photos over the Xmas-New Year Break. I highly recommend the extremely talented and creative Alison Cooke Photography (also a fellow redhead)!! Alison is running Bush Christmas Mini Sessions on 2nd, 3rd & 10th November, so be sure to hop over to her page and book in 📸

And lastly, the answer is YES. I am still doing Streetopia!!! Lots of orders coming in from loyal customers so if you require any names for End of Year teacher presents, Christmas gifts etc... HIT. ME. UP.

This is me 📸

I am the taker of the photos…

I am the receiver of the groans, they eye-rolls and the hurry ups.

I am the one who disrupts the ‘moments’, to capture them.

And sometimes it’s hard to be that person.

But I am also the holder of the memories…

I am the one who keeps the precious proof.

I am the bearer of the stories, the maker of the photo books that bring tears, laughter and love rushing into the room each time they are opened.

And if you are too, please know you are capturing this life, as it happens.

You are capturing stages, ages, twists, turns and last moments no one could have foreseen.

And generations to come will thank you for it, even if no one does right now.

The eye-rolls will be replaced one day with absolute all-consuming gratitude, for the image of a smiling face so missed and a memory returned home to stay.

Keep disrupting life to capture it my friends, when it’s all that is left, someone somewhere will be so very glad you did.

𝐔𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧...

My beloved Robert aka Mr Photopia, who many of you have met at photoshoots & weddings, sadly passed away recently. It has been a huge shock for us to process and we are completely heartbroken. 💔

It is for this reason that I'm taking some time away from the cameras in the immediate future, and will be focusing on my family as we come to terms with not having Robert by our side.

Thank you to my incredibly understanding families whose shoots I had to cancel in the last week. I'm so very grateful to everyone who have reached out to us with their kind words and support.

Still one of my favourite shoots EVER... just before Covid lockdown hit for the very first time in 2020, we were fortunate enough to celebrate the 50th Wedding Anniversary of my Mum & Dad in Rockhampton.

Because I love a "then & now" photo, I suggested that we recreate some of the wedding photos for their Golden Anniversary. Mum wore her gorgeous wedding dress, I bribed Dad with a few ###X stubbies and we had a gorgeous little photoshoot in front of the church in which they wed.

Today they celebrate 54 years of marriage, congrats Nan & Pops! 👩‍❤️‍👨
