STORY
I recently visited Moonta on the Yorke Peninsular in South Australia to shoot the Hughes Engine House. It has now been fully restored and is a great site under the night sky. However, the weather did not cooperate during my visit with cloudy skies. Nevertheless, I set up a foreground composition of the engine house and then blended a tracked panorama of the sky to complete the image.
For the sky, I set up my Benro Polaris tracker and captured 21 frames and stitched them in PTGui. I blended the two sets of images in Photoshop. I also used NoiseXTerminator to reduce the image noise. I also used the Capture the Night filter to boost the star colours.

STORY
I recently took a road trip up to Queensland and ended up at Ballandean. I was chasing a unique structure called the Ballandean Pyramid. It was built by Ken Stubberfield in 2006 who did so to use the excess of local grey granite blocks that were left over after excavating and clearing his farmland. It took eight months to complete. The pyramid stands 17.5 meters high, measures 30 meters square at the base, and contains 7,500 tonnes of rock.
I set up a composition and shot a foreground panorama of the pyramid and then shot a panorama of the sky. I blended the foreground and sky in Photoshop.

STORY
I recently took a road trip up the New South Wales north coast and ended up at Woodburn. I was chasing a bucket list item that Doug Ingram told me about many years ago. The target was a Silo on the roadside near Buckendoon and it has a tree growing right out of the top and out of the side of the silo. It is pretty unique.
I set up and shot a foreground panorama of the silo and then moved nearby and shot a panorama of the sky. I blended the foreground and sky in Photoshop.

STORY
On a road trip to Victoria, I made it to Rainbow which is a small town in the Mallee Region of far Western Victoria. I found this radar weather tower many months ago and decided that I should visit it and shoot a Milky Way Galaxy panorama. The tower is 27 metres high and is used to detect atmospheric weather patterns up to 128 km distant.
I set up and shot a 3 image vertical panorama of the structure using my Sony a74 astro modified camera. The tower has sensor lights which turn on with little apparent movement required, which meant a few repeat exposures were required. I ran the image through StarXTerminator and NoiseXTerminator and processed the image in Photoshop.

I recently visited Lake Tyrrell with Jason Perry and Kim Payne and got to shoot a dead tree on the foreshores under the Milky Way Galaxy. I shot the dead tree in the Blue Hour and captured 15 frames and stitched them in PTGui.
For the sky, I set up my Benro Polaris tracker close by and captured 21 frames and stitched them in PTGui. I blended the two sets of images in Photoshop. I also used StarXTerminator to edit the Galaxy in the night sky and NoiseXTerminator to reduce the image noise.

I recently visited Lake Tyrrell with Jason Perry and Kim Payne and got to shoot an ancient dead tree on the foreshores under the Milky Way Galaxy. I shot ancient dead tree in the Blue Hour and captured 15 frames and stitched them in PTGui.

STORY
I recently visited Lake Tyrrell with Jason Perry and Kim Payne and finally got to shoot The Bus under the Milky Way Galaxy. I shot a 10 image panorama of The Bus under the rising Milky Way Galaxy. As I shot my 3rd frame, an iridium flare flashed into my image with the reflections from the communications satelitte brightly reflecting the sunlight from its antennas. The Bus was lit with two low level lights, one inside of the Bus and the other in the engine bay.
I stitched the 10 frames in PTGui and processed the result in Photoshop.

STORY
I headed down to Dunkeld in the Southern Grampians in Victoria and ended up near Victoria Valley for this shoot. The night sky was clear but the wind was ferocious so my plan to track the sky was shelved. I set up to shoot the Galaxy with a series of single shots which was challenging in itself as I had to repeat every second image because of camera shake due to the wind. I ended up hovering over my camera with my jacket extended so it acted as a windbreak. After a while, I managed to get the sky finished and followed up with the foreground. I shot 30 images for the sky and 7 images for the foreground. I stitched the images in PTGui and blended the panorama in Photoshop.

STORY
On my annual road trip to The Grampians, I decided to head out to Lake Bellfield to catch the rising Milky Way Galaxy from the dam wall. The skies were perfect, so I set up my Benro Polaris tracker with my Sony a74 astro modified camera and set up a this composition. I shot 18 images of the sky and 6 of the foreground. I stitched the panorama in PTGui and then processed them in Photoshop.
