It's the first day of school holidays and mum wakes up before the kids to have her tea and read her book in peace. The kids all wake up on their own without an alarm and are greeted with a choccie milk and a slow morning. Smallest child joins mum reading in bed and the light hits her face perfectly so you run for your camera grateful it has an SD and a charged battery and snap this gorgeous shot.

Life is good!

Getting a family ready for a family session as well as getting yourself ready and then keeping everyone clean can sometimes be an overwhelming task! I have three kids and I can relate too well with this.

Before you arrive at your session "just breathe" we want to leave any negative energy at home. If you need to get toddlers dressed on location in the boot of the car then do that. Head into your session with the intention of spending a really meaningful hour or so just being completely present with your people.

Tickle little kids, smell hair, kiss little hands and cheeks, pull those teenagers in, swing those kids around and love on your partner while I document all those special moments.

If you need to bribe with a drive through dinner then by all means do so... there will be no judgement here! 😂

Lastly leave all expectation at home too. Little people are not robots who enjoy looking and smiling on cue. Those natural emotions and interactions come from letting the session naturally unfold and by interacting with them in a way that makes them feel happy and loved.
