On 13/3 I began querying book 1 “Assembly of the Elements” and received my first rejection response yesterday.

It’s important to note that rejection is part of the process, so one is no biggie, especially being from my first batch sent out.

I’ve also recently found out just how slim of a chance I have being picked up as a debut author - not only querying a 120k word novel, but one of a series which, on top of THAT, surpasses a trilogy 😅

I will still go ahead with querying, however I’m deciding to PIVOT! my strategy 🙂 by getting a true stand-alone prepared, which has been in development since last year (thank goodness, lol) and the great thing about this particular story is it’s mentioned briefly in the prologue from “Assembly of the Elements” so there’s a nice little tie-in there 😉

It may take more time, but time will pass by anyway, so I might as well make the most of it.

Hey folks! It’s been a couple of months since I last posted so here’s the updates:

- edits slowed down due to a plot hole I discovered. This has since been rectified so I will be diving back into edits asap 🙌
- begun reworking an old story of mine (mentioned in one of my previous posts) which was the very thing that helped me figure out the plot hole from my current project
- I’ve also got an idea of how to start book 2 so I’ll be tackling that inbetween edits and querying this year 😁

I haven’t forgotten about the OG story from my teen years 🥺 every now and then it slips back into my mind, reminding me of its existence, inclusive of Paint created maps of the fantasy world 😂 when I say they’re terrible, oh boy are they the worst you could ever imagine 👀

One day I’ll come back to it, when I know I have built more upon the lore and feel confident in the redevelopment of that storyline. But uhh, I definitely need to remove the Whitelighters and every other obvious Charmed trope I put in there…except the three sisters, they’re staying…but they now have an annoying younger brother: JACOB!!! 😅

Brief:
Three sisters grow curious about their mother’s job, one so secret that they decide to follow her—when she drives right into a lake.

On the 2nd of June, 2019, I would begin writing chapter 1 with only some vague concepts for a story.

2,034 days later at 3.30am on Boxing Day, 2024, I would write the last words of the epilogue, with a complex narrative, complex characters, knowing exactly where it’s going, how it ends, and titles for all 5 books.

All it takes is a little bit of courage, and a whole lot of faith.

Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain everyone! 😈👹👻🎃🕷️🕸️🐍

[[[Halloween, as like other festivities colonised by Christianity in a bid to increase conversions, was initially introduced as All Saints Day on November 1st as a day to honour the saints by Pope Gregory III in the 8th century, later introducing traditions of Samhain. October 31st would become “All Hallows Eve”.

By around 1773, the Scots combined the words of ‘holy evening’ to create Halloween, and in 1786, Scottish poet Robert Burns used the name for his poem. The Halloween that we know today really took off in the US in the late 1800s when the Irish were immigrating to America, bringing their traditions with them.]]]

I decided to make an attempt at creating AI art specifically for celebrating Halloween/Samhain, incorporating red dirt to symbolise our beautiful Aussie country, and some creepy crawlies that are meant to resemble funnel-web spiders, cane toads, and some of our deadliest snakes—which we have far too many 🤣

This image didn’t all come straight from my AI app, however; I did a lot of work in Photoshop to piece it all together into one cohesive image. Hope the effort was worth it 😅

October 27 reflects the same date of my WIP debut novel's Chapter 27 and its main event at Sirens Point Hotel—although I’ve had to continue this into Chapter 28 for the grand finale of the night 😎
