Ok, while the Mon-Sun/Sun-Sat voting continues, here's a less well known Kimberley waterfall that you might not have seen...

The picturesque Bindoola Cascades, Home Valley Station.

You've gotta be lucky to catch this one flowing nicely.
It's always nice to capture something that's not seen by too many people. Lovely spot to sit and watch the colours change.

This is one of many Kimberley waterfall photos featured in my new Gibb River Road book. As of this week, the books are now also available at King's Park in Perth, as well as online.

Ok, let's settle this once and for all.....

For those of you who use printed calendars, should the calendar week be:

A. Monday - Sunday??
or B. Sunday - Saturday??

I've tried both over the years, with each camp telling me their preferred option is DEFINITELY right.

The Australian printed calendar standard is Sun - Sat.
But for most people, the week seems to be Monday- Sunday.

Let me know what you think. Your feedback will put this to bed once and for all. :)

Don't miss out! The new 2027 Kimberley calendars are usually available online only until the end of October.

These are some of my favourite images from the last couple of years featured in the new calendars.

- Royal Flying Doctor Service -

Despite a slower than usual start to the tourist season this year, I'm happy to report that with almost 2,500 calendars sold so far we are on track to donate upwards of $12,000 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

This donation will then be doubled by the RFDS matching donation partners which gets us close to $25,000 donated as a result of the Kimberley calendar fundraiser.

A big thanks to all of the businesses around the Kimberley that continue to support this fundraiser! And those of you who have already placed an order. It gives me a great excuse to keep taking and sharing new photos. :)

The always magical Emma Gorge, Gibb River Road.

I haven't shared this vertical composition before from earlier this year. It's a nice example of revisiting a familiar place and trying to see it from a fresh perspective.

I've been taking photos at Emma Gorge for 14 years but it was only on this visit that the lush green ferns really jumped out as a nice foreground element which fills the frame with colour and adds some nice depth to the image.

It might seem like an obvious foreground and yet in all my years of photographing this waterfall, I've been drawn to a different composition each time.

A nice reminder that new - and better - photos can be found in familiar places. :)

Back in action!

Happy to report the Landcruiser is back in action.
The intermittent tap - or clunk - coming up through the footwell was tricky to replicate in the mechanic's workshop - but appears to have been related to the front right wheel bearings once they had warmed up. First test drive yesterday suggests things are now back to normal. Let’s hope it stays that way. You never know on these Kimberley roads. :)

Another happy customer!

Thanks to Uli and Annemarie for sending this in from Germany and letting me share it. Uli tells me that they have tackled two trips along The Gibb and it's Annemarie's favourite place. I hope the book brings back lots of happy memories. :)

I love the idea of the books circulating in other countries and people sharing the photos and their stories with friends and family. So far this year books and calendars have gone out to Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, New Zealand and all over Australia.

So, yes, despite my website not listing international shipping prices, I'm always happy to send overseas on a case-by-case basis. Just flick me a message. Happy to help!

Not every Kimberley trip goes according to plan….

After 3 weeks in Thailand, we decided it was time to reconnect with the Kimberley.

With the Landcruiser loaded with fuel and 2 weeks' worth of food, b**r and w**e, we set off yesterday morning, swag on the roof, cameras at the ready, only to find ourselves on the back of a tow truck less than 100km from Broome.

What was supposed to be a 2-week, 2,800km trip was over before it began. F**k!

Despite getting the car serviced just last month and paying $2000 for a new exhaust, we noticed a distinct ’tapping’ coming up through the accelerator that was progressively getting worse - a potential issue with the drive shaft or transfer case?? Better to play it safe close to home than come unstuck somewhere remote.

And so back to Broome we went with our tail between our legs courtesy of Broome Towing and RAC Roadside Assist.

It’s a good reminder that even with regular servicing, s**t happens. And it also highlights why, when a for-profit business reaches out to me looking for free photos - or someone decides to help themselves to my Facebook images - I’m quick to tell them to p**s off. Trips around the Kimberley - and Kimberley photography - don't come cheap.

The lost world of Purnululu.

It's hard to believe sometimes that these places are real. Imagine hiking up through those Livistona palm trees, the Bungle Bungle Range towering above. It's another world!

This was captured about 20 minutes after sunset just as the colours of the range become darker and richer in the last light of the day.

2 years ago today the universe gave me a nudge away from my day job as a Kimberley tour guide and a nudge towards focussing full time on my photography. That nudge is rarely convenient when it comes - but sometimes you can't help but pay attention to it. It usually steers you in the right direction.

2 years later I'm proud to be building the business and making it work. Sometimes it's not only important - but necessary - to listen to that inner voice and important to do what feels right even when it's inconvenient.

The lost world of Purnululu.

Sometimes venturing into the unknown is pretty bloody exciting.

The first time I explored the Five Fingers of the Bungle Bungle Range back in 2016 I did it on my own, tackling some pretty rugged gorges and never knowing what was around the next corner. Some of the 'Fingers' involve wading and swimming through icy cold water, sometimes in the dark! Swimming through a darkened tunnel on your own in the middle of nowhere definitely feels like the start of a horror movie where the main character vanishes without a trace.

On a seperate occasion I came across a Childrens' Python in the cold water in one of the Fingers, with vertical walls on both sides. Worried that it had slipped off the sandstone and perhaps needed a helping hand, I rested the python on my head as I swam this long narrow gorge back to dry land. These are the hikes that stick in your memory. :)

I've been up into Piccaninny Gorge 4 times over the years and twice into the Five Fingers. It was great to get back in there with Bec and take a couple of snaps along the way.
