Every color is magical. Each one speaks to us in different ways, conveys different emotions and tells a different story.

We are getting together to explore a color each month in our Chase the Rainbow Project. This monthā€™s color is SKY BLUE šŸ©µ

The last leg of our Indonesian adventure was Bali, and it was exactly the rest I needed.

After weeks of family catch-ups, exploring, eating, sightseeing and making memories, Bali gave us space to slow down. We spent quality time together, stepped outside our comfort zones in Ubud, and enjoyed cocktail hour on more days than Iā€™d like to admit. šŸ¹

Sometimes the best part of a holiday isnā€™t ticking off attractions. Itā€™s having nowhere you need to be and nowhere you need to rush to.

Semarang, Central Java, holds a special place in my story. I spent five years teaching there, met the love of my life, and itā€™s where my baby was born. Itā€™s not really a typical tourist destination, but itā€™s full of layers if you know where to look. Culture, history, and family woven into everyday life.

These images are from some of the places that shaped our time there: Sam Poo Kong Temple, Kota Lama (Old Town), and Lawang Sewu. Not just locations, but memories stitched into a season of life that will always feel like home in its own way.

More travel spamā€¦

We spent a lovely day with our dear friend Ms Betty at Cimory Dairy Farm, but some of my favourite photos from the day arenā€™t actually farm-related at all.

Theyā€™re the quiet, candid moments. My son carefully hand-feeding the budgies. Patiently waiting on a Japanese-style bridge. The little pauses that often end up meaning the most.

Then there were the wonderfully quirky parts of the park. The ā€œJapaneseā€ landscape surrounded by palm trees that made me smile every time I looked at it. The unexpected peacock strutting around like it owned the place. The iguana that looked like it had wandered in from another continent entirely.

Travel isnā€™t always about the big attractions. Sometimes itā€™s the strange, unexpected details and the small moments in between that stay with you long after youā€™ve come home.

Travel spam incomingā€¦

Taken at the stunning Padma Hotel in Semarang. And while I love beautiful places, what matters most are moments like these. My son, completely in his element, swimming, sliding, splashing and making the kind of memories I hope he carries with him long after heā€™s grown.

These photos remind me that the best part of travelling isnā€™t the destination. Itā€™s watching your kids experience it all with wonder and joy.

We just came back from Indonesia. And as I look back through our travel photos, I feel incredibly grateful. Not because of where weā€™ve been, but because of who weā€™ve shared those moments with.

When I think about my own childhood, I donā€™t remember what was in my parentsā€™ bank account. I remember the camping trips, the holidays, the adventures, and the time we spent together.

Those are the memories that stayed.

And thatā€™s what I hope my own children remember too.

For our family, experiences have always been one of our priorities. Not because theyā€™re extravagant, but because time together feels increasingly precious.

The photos arenā€™t valuable because theyā€™re perfect. Theyā€™re valuable because they remind me of how it felt to be there. The laughter, the discoveries, the moments that seemed ordinary at the time but become part of our familyā€™s story.

And thatā€™s a kind of richness no bank account can measure.
