Photography to me is about capturing the world how I view it. How it makes me feel, the emotions of the moment and then letting someone else decipher it to suit what feelings the images stir in them. While I enjoy many varied aspects to photography and genres, to me the best part of it is exploring. Going on a long drive, turning down an unexplored road, watching a billabong wake up, a wetland fal

l to sleep or the endless changes to the coastline. It has a kind of hypnotic effect that soothes the mind and cleanses the soul.

A collection of images to celebrate 100 years of Sir David Attenborough.

From watching his documentaries as a little girl, to wearing out my copy of Blue Planet, and flying across Australia in 2013, 2014 and 2017 just to hear him speak in person, he has inspired, enthralled and captivated me time and time again.

His storytelling opened my eyes to the beauty, fragility and wonder of the natural world, and without even realising it, helped shape the way I see it through my lens today.

The first peek of a world above the sandy nest you hatched in.

Nest numbers were down this season.

Hatched rate roughly 50%.

Though the nest excavation work I was involved with, produced one particular nest of over 60 eggs, 10 hatched, 5 undetermined of what stage of development and the rest? Full developed unhatched. Why? A very long, hot, dry summer is a suspect. It's sad work but vital to gather information so we can learn more about the life cycles of the flatback turtle.

And then, there are days when you see a couple of teeny tiny heads poking out of the sand, so you sit and wait for them to emerge. It's magical.

With the rising cost of fuel, it makes me think twice about jumping in the troopy to go for a random drive. The kind where you have no set path, just a pull in some kind of direction.

But with the build up of clouds and the lighting app alerting me to some bolts, I just felt like today I needed to go.

A random dirt track, a wrong turn, a dead end (downhill into a boulder valley), a call from Dad (he's in Bali) and I stumbled across a peak of a rainbow then the most magnificent sunset I have seen in ages! No lightning, but something far, far better.

Now to find my way out in the dark, with a camera full of snaps and a big s**t eating grin to go see my boys.

Happy Monday!!

I’ve been a little MIA over here lately, but 6 months post-hysterectomy and I’m finally starting to feel like myself again, strong, energised and back in control.

I’ve got a few wildlife and landscape adventures planned over the coming weeks and I can’t wait to get out there and see what magic I can capture (🤞).
