forever in awe of the colours (& wildlife 🐋🦘🦅 ) here in Western Australia 🇦🇺✨🧡🌿 winter in Kalbarri is such a special season where the humpback whales are travelling past on their annual migration, they can be seen from the shore or you can hop on a whale watching tour to see them up-close breaching & tail-slapping 🥹 literally the cutest ever!!!

the weather here at this time of year is absolute perfection to do all the hiking in the National Park & hop on one of the boat tours from town 🧡

After living on the road in Australia for 5 years, we’re excited to share our 5 most commonly used items 🙌🏽🧡

Featuring our sip bottles, super functional for life on the road, keeping our drinking water freezing cold & very aesthetic 😍🌿✨💧🧊 they are the perfect size to take everywhere, with a handy little carry grip and a flip-up sippy straw that makes drinking on the go super easy.

the truth is, this lifestyle didn’t happen overnight for us💭🚐

it meant sacrifices, long hours, living in uncomfortable places & saying no to things we once thought were normal.

It’s not about luck, it’s about choices & if there’s one thing this journey has taught us, it’s that the life you dream of is on the other side of the decisions you’re willing to make 🌿🚐🧡✨

great things come from working hard! 🤭 we still can’t believe we built this van by ourselves 👀🚐🛠️🫢 and what a journey it’s been!!!

from no clue what we were doing to building a full home on wheels from scratch, every late night, every Bunnings run, and “why are we even doing this?” moment was SO worth it 🚐🧡

6 months. Zero experience. Full-time work on the van build, and somehow… we pulled it off 🥹

This reel barely scratches the surface of what went into building Ferne, you can find heaps more in my ‘DIY van build’ highlight , it’s such a reminder that behind every dreamy vanlife scene, there’s a whole lot of hustle, mistakes, problem-solving and growth 🛠️

If you’re in the middle of your own build, keep going, you’ll be so proud when you get to experience the after moments!

here’s another national park that NEEDS to be on your bucket list in Western Australia! 🇦🇺🦘🌿🥾🏜️

📍 Kalbarri National Park, WA

Kalbarri is one of those places that completely surprises you… you arrive at a beautiful coastal town & then suddenly you’re hiking amongst deep red gorges 🥾🏜️

the national park here reminds us so much of Karijini National Park in the North West 🧡🌿 the landscapes out here make you stop & think like HOW is this even real?! 💭

we were soooo grateful so finally tick off The Loop & Z-Bend walks, as every other time we have visited it has been in the summer months - when some of the hikes are closed off due to extreme heat (it can reach over 50 degrees celsius inside the gorges) 🥵

heck yes we do… 👀 one that we built ourselves! 🚐🌿 but it wasn’t always this way …. 🫢

for the first 3 years of vanlife, we did it rough, sleeping in the back of a little Hiace van with no toilet, no shower. Just a (thin) mattress and a load of storage boxes under the bed 🚐

we showered at beaches and learned to live with our dog in this tiny space saving every cent we could. But those early days taught us how little we actually needed to be happy 🌞

now we’ve built our dream home on wheels, but we’ll never forget where it started. The long drives, the instant noodles & the uncomfortableness

We still can’t believe we built this with our own hands with no experience 🤯🤯 one of our proudest achievements for sure!

& slow travel around the country we call home is definitely one of them 🙌🏽✨ there is honestly nothing better than camping offgrid under a sky full of stars, a campfire, no phone signal, a bunch of mates and some country music playing 🤌🏼

if you get the opportunity to hit the road & lap Australia this is your sign to DO IT 🚐✨ you honestly won’t regret it!
