You can thank me later.

For the photos where you’re looking at the camera? Sure.

But for the ones where you’re completely wrapped up in them and forget I’m even there?

Those are usually the ones you’ll treasure most.

In all seriousness, can we normalise not having to look into the camera?

Not every photo needs eye contact.
Not every photo needs a smile.
Not every photo needs perfection.

Sometimes the most beautiful image is the one where you’re simply being their mum.

Holding their hand.
Kissing their cheek.
Watching them laugh.
Loving them without ever looking at the lens.

Because you are there.
You are seen.
You are loved.

And one day, they’ll be grateful there was proof.

If your the mum who says,
“I’ll just take newborn photos on my phone…” this one is for you 🫶🏼

You now have 4,000 camera roll photos, 2 blurry Live Photos, one screenshot of the time and not a single decent photo with your baby.

This was me funnily enough 😭

The truth is, when you’re in the thick of newborn life, surviving on cold coffees and no sleep, documenting it yourself usually ends up somewhere between “I’ll do it tomorrow” and “I can’t put them down”

And honestly?
You deserve to exist in these memories too. Not just be the one taking them! 🤍

Maternity photos don’t have to be perfect to mean something.
They can look like muddy boots, oversized knits, cold hands, stormy skies and a body growing life while you’re still trying to recognise yourself in it all.

You don’t need to wait until you “feel beautiful” to document this season.
