Feeling comfortable with your photographer changes everything — your energy, your confidence, your experience and ultimately, your photos. 💛
And I think that’s something that can sometimes get a little lost when you’re choosing who will photograph your wedding.
Of course you should love their work. Their style matters. Their experience matters. Their ability to handle changing light, unpredictable weather, running timelines and all the beautiful chaos of a wedding day absolutely matters.
But there’s something else that matters just as much. How you feel around them.
Your photographer is beside you for some of the most emotional, exciting and wonderfully unscripted moments of your entire day.
I’ll be there while you’re getting ready and the nerves start to kick in. Right beside you moments before you walk down the aisle. There for the tears, the belly laughs, the quiet glances, the hugs, the chaos, the dance floor and all those tiny in-between moments you didn’t even realise were happening.
So you need to feel comfortable.
You need to feel like you can laugh, move, be affectionate, be ridiculous, cry if you want to and completely forget that there’s a camera following you around.
Because when you’re comfortable, you stop performing for the camera.
You stop wondering where to put your hands.
You stop worrying about whether you “look good”.
And you simply start being you. 🤍
That’s when the magic happens.
It’s why connection has always been such a huge part of what I do. I don’t want to arrive on your wedding day feeling like a stranger who happens to have a camera in hand.
I want you to feel like your person has arrived.
Someone you trust. Someone you can have a laugh with. Someone who knows when to give you some direction and, just as importantly, when to disappear into the background and let a moment unfold naturally.
Because years from now, when you look back through your wedding photographs, I don’t just want you to remember what everything looked like.
I want you to remember exactly how it felt, and that starts with feeling comfortable enough to simply be yourselves. I’ve got you.
