My philosophy:

It should be the architecture that defines the style of picture it requires, not the photographer.

Naturally, I love the complex, untamed geometry of nature, but I also find that seeking out simple, clean urban geometries—isolating them from the surrounding bustle —transcends my mind, making it calm and empty. Another advantage is that these patterns are everywhere; I don’t have to travel far or make a special effort to find them.

In Australia, I worked as an architectural photographer, and that passion has followed me to Augsburg. While this city is renowned for its stunning historic buildings, which draw many photographers, I've found myself captivated by the often-overlooked beauty of modern architecture. There's a unique charm in these contemporary structures—if you take a moment to look around, you'll see it too.

Today, for the first time, I visited the newly renovated Goldener Saal in Augsburg City Council.

Whether or not you like Baroque art, the hall was breathtaking. As I replaced in my imagination the visitors with well-dressed banquet guests, it was easy to picture myself standing there in the 1600s, when the place was lively and active.

Since this visit happened spontaneously, I did not have my camera with me, only my smartphone. Still, I hope you can appreciate the grandeur of the place. If you haven't been there yet, put it on your must-see list.
