Damien Peck is currently employed by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He has completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Tasmania focusing on a Major in Photography in 2012, and Major in Journalism, Media and Communications in 2014. Peck's photography shows strong interests in key themes of space, night, abandonment, and isolation which have led him to capture the darker spots of Hob
art over the past few years. The ideas of emotional ties and physical tension in scenes are captured by the blankness of the nightβs darkness and the vacancy of surrounding objects that might otherwise be in the location in another scenario. The first book release of abandoned spaces, "Empty Days and Sleepless Nights" was printed in November, 2012. it can be ordered in print form and is is held in online form at: http://tinyurl.com/8wj2buf. http://www.utas.edu.au/art-viscom/about/graduate-gallery/2012/photography/damien-peck
His concert photography has been circulated within the Tasmanian music scene with content in Australian Musician Network, The Dwarf, Warp Magazine, Sauce Magazine, Optical Note, and more recently through social media. Exhibitions are in the works for Peck with location and timing being a key factor in the the workβs presentation. Peckβs other interests in media include work with community radio station, Edge radio 99.3fm, where he has been a host of various programs since 2008 as a side project of his own in completing his Major in Journalism, Media and Communications. Current projects also include special comments with Essendon District Football League, editing for Footy Prophet, and freelance photography for events in Melbourne.
