The cake was meant to be simple.
Soft pink layers, blackberries on top, nothing too loud.

But when you cut into it, everything changes.
The inside tells the real story.

Maybe that’s what this season feels like too.
A quiet shift.
Still carrying traces of summer, but softer underneath.

A small cake for today.
Made for someone who prefers things gentle💕

Happy Chinese New Year 🧨

The warmth of our reunion dinner still lingers.
The kitchen still carries a trace of sweetness.

Two days before New Year’s Eve, we started preparing, cooking red bean paste from scratch and slowly building the table one dish at a time.

Fish sizzling in the pan, beef braising gently, rice cakes steaming while little ones waited, barely patient.
It felt like my own childhood again.

Before the plates were even set, small hands reached in.
And I realised that tradition does not arrive with grand words.
It settles quietly, through flavours and through memory.

When they now ask for eight treasure rice, rice cakes, and pig’s ear for the New Year,
I know a piece of home has found its place in them.

This year’s table took time. It took effort.
But some rituals are meant to be made slowly.

Wishing you a prosperous Year of the Horse. May strength and success follow you through 2026 🐎

A quiet mango cake moment.

Soft drip, creamy edges, and fresh mango adding just enough colour and warmth.

Created, styled, and photographed in-house.

This is actually the third round of apricots from our dear friend Jennifer Marten-Smith.
The first two rounds never made it to the camera… they were eaten before I even blinked.

So this time, I moved fast.
Photos first. Touching later 📸🍑

And I have to say, these homegrown apricots completely changed my mind about apricots.
Super sweet, super fragrant, insanely juicy, with none of that weird unripe taste you get from store-bought ones.

Honestly, I now realise I’ve been lied to by apricots my whole life.
These are hands down the best apricots on earth!!
