I've just received a complementary September edition of the Australian Photography Magazine....... which is great because I was planning to buy one (or two), copies! ๐Ÿ˜€
I've never appeared in a photography magazine before, so please excuse me if I milk this a bit! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Ž
As some of you may already know, I did quite well in the 2022 'Mono Awardsโ€™ and ended up getting three images in the top 40 of the 'Places' section.
The Mono Awards are Australia and New Zealand's largest competition dedicated to the art of monochrome and black and white photography, attracting hundreds of entries.
My 'Bucketing Down' image from Rock Island Bend is used as the promo image on page four of the magazine and all three images appear later in the top 40 'Places' section.
Feeling rather chuffed! :)

Taken from the top of Mount George on a very cold morning a few days ago.... It was minus 4.... plus the wind chill...... brrrrr :)
In the foreground you have Bell Bay on the left, and then George Town to the right. The last bright light on the right hand side is the Low Head lighthouse.
The galactic core sits above as it sets in the west.

Lake Burbury is located just east of Queenstown on Tasmania's west coast.
There is a range of mountains between the two, making the drive a lot of fun. (especially at night). ๐Ÿ˜‰
The peaks from L to R are:
Mt Jukes, Mt Huxley, Mt Owen, Mt Lyell and Mt Sedgewick.

For those who appreciate some technical details.....
Single row 180 degree panorama, consisting of six images.
Nikon D850 and a 14-24mm f/2.8 lens.
Each image shot at f/2.8 - 8 secs - ISO 10,000

Galactic Isle.....
Iโ€™ve been fortunate enough to have one of my 'night-skyโ€™ images selected as a finalist in this yearโ€™s Bay of Fires Art Prize.
Yesterday, I took a trip across to the east coast, and delivered my print to the Panorama Resort in St Helens, where it will be displayed, along with the other finalists, for four weeks.
The winner of the art prize is announced on Friday 11th Juneโ€ฆโ€ฆ Fingers crossed. ๐Ÿคž

Longford Railway Bridge - Northern Tasmania.
Built in 1870, the bridge crosses the South Esk river in Longford and is still in use today.
Spent a very pleasant evening sitting on the cold rocks next to the river, which was very calm and offered-up some great reflections. ๐Ÿ™‚

LONE TREE - BINALONG BAY.
I've been having a look at some of the other images from my recent night-shoot at the Bay of Fires on Tassie's East Coast.
This one was shot a bit earlier than the previous one I posted, and from a slightly different angle.
I particularly like the way the torchlight illuminates the rocks in the foreground.
It was a magical clear night and the stars were so bright. ๐Ÿ™‚
There were quite a few 'keepers' among the images I took, so I can't promise that this will be the last one I'll post! ๐Ÿ˜‰

This was taken about 50 minutes before the 'Lone Tree' shot I posted yesterday.

My first 'Milky Way' shoot of the year turned into a bit of a debacle!
My fault I suppose for totally trusting those weather apps on the phone! ๐Ÿ™‚
The trip wasn't a total waste though, I hung around for a couple of hours and got this nice moody sunrise shot instead. ๐Ÿ™‚
