In tribute to an all-round great guy, i post this photo of Burkinshaw Transports K200.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chris Harmer a few years ago to produce an editorial and photo spread for a magazine. Chris's son Tom tagged along for the photo shoot and his excitement was infectious.
Describing Burkinshaws Transport as family rather than employer, Chris worked with them for many years before becoming ill. In testament to his unwavering dedication to the transport industry, Chris would continue to go into work and wash trucks even after he had his licence taken away.
Chris, drawing strength from his faith, fought a courageous, pragmatic, dignified battle with cancer for the last few years, eventually succumbing to its effects this week.
Chris was most certainly a true gentleman, always thinking of others first.
I spoke with Chris on the phone a month or so ago as he wanted my permission to use some photos i had given to him. He wanted to use them on a photo presentation project. This summed up the character of the man, even faced with his own mortality, he still wanted to do the right thing by others.
Rest peacefully my friend. Chris Harmer
