Managed to catch the local FQPL Men's game tonight (21/3/26) at the Sports Precinct - United Warriors Football Club v SC Corinthians FC. It was a hard-fought game between the two sides, but United Warriors had the upper hand on this occasion with a convincing 3-0 win. Here's some action from the game.. πŸ₯°

We're used to the rugged coastlines of Tasmania being buffeted by big seas and high winds, as we have done up until now. Listening to the loud reverberations of the waves pounding the rocks and sheer cliffs.

But yesterday, it was so calm and still, it was almost Zen-like. In all our visits, I've never seen such calm seas. To be honest, I kind of miss the drama of sea-spray and the turbulent white-wash of waves. So instead, I've captured something different.

How's the serenity ?? 😊πŸ₯°πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Remember I mentioned how photographers love a bit of "drama" instead of clear blue skies? Well, the weather certainly delivered today to add plenty of drama to the images from today's cruise to Cape Raoul (from Port Arthur). The biggest challenge was keeping my balance during the huge swells and rough oceans, whilst hanging on for dear life to get these shots. Add to that, being armed with a lens cloth to constantly keep the rain drops and sea spray from spoiling the shots through my lens filter. And then add to that, often shooting one handed for fear of letting go of the boat and falling overboard, camera gear and all.

Today, I was shooting with the Canon R5 Mkii mirrorless and my new 14-35mm super wide lens. Hence I wasn't able to get any close up shots of the seals that are actually in some of those shots. The conditions were too treacherous to go changing lenses. Today was all about capturing the other-worldly grandeur of Cape Raoul in all it's glory. What do you think? πŸ₯°

One of my favourite places to visit in Tasmania is a little town called Ross. If I had to choose a place to live in Tassie, it would be here. Such a beautiful and historic place, and the locals are wonderful and friendly. There is obviously a great deal of pride in town's appearance and protection of it's history. Even the drive into town is impressive, where the road is lined with gold-leafed trees leading into the most gorgeous tree-lined streets. If you're into architecture from the 1800's, then this is the town to visit.

Here's a few shots I've managed to edit so far. I'm a bit self-critical about the long exposure shots at night. It's an area of photography that I'm yet to master. But hey.. not bad for a Sports Photographer.. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ₯°

Every photographer loves a bit of drama for their images.. and a perfectly blue sky (as lovely as they are), can make a shot look a little boring. I love an interesting sky with different cloud formations and a bit of dark sky drama. But today was a little too much "drama" πŸ’¦πŸŒ§οΈπŸ’¨. Just when I was hoping that our one full day at Dove Lake, Cradle Mountain would bless us with just the right amount of dramatic skies, all hell broke loose. Talk about being a glutton for punishment.. because despite my inconvenient cold symptoms 🀧, we walked the full circuit around Dove Lake in the pouring rain and high winds and literally froze our patooties off. I couldn't even get my camera out of the bag until well into our walk for fear of wrecking my "baby". They're shower resistant, but NOT water proof. So, the brief respites from the rain and wind were a godsend. Even managed some peek-a-boo sunshine poking through the clouds every now and again. Anyway, here's some shots I did manage to take. Not my best work. But, under the challenging circumstances, I'll have to be satisfied with what I did manage. Enjoy.. πŸ₯°

Nothing like enjoying the wilds of Tasmania. This part of the adventure, we got to see and experience Hells Gates (the narrow entrance where the sea meets Macquarie Harbour), then cruise up the Gordon River, walk through the pristine forest at Heritage Landing, and visit Sarah Island (and the ruins of a convict settlement). Excellent day with Gordon River Cruises on their modern, hybrid catamaran, which they switch to whisper quiet mode (custom electric engine) while cruising the Gordon.. as opposed to the usual diesel engine they use when out on the harbour and bay. Here's a few shots from our brilliant day out.. πŸ₯°

We received the results for the Projected Image Competition for February at last night's Photography Club meeting. The set subject for the month was "Birds". And for a change, I submitted 2 entries in the set subject category and received an Honour for "Flying High" and a Merit for "Bath Time". My 2 Open category entries also received Merits, "Ol' Four Eyes" and "Yearning". Very happy with the results and the valuable critiques from PSQ judge, Victoria Purdie.. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

Had a bit of fun at the Botanic Gardens tonight practicing Macro photography with my friends from the Hervey Bay Photography Club. I did keep a respectable distance from the "models" though.. πŸ˜³πŸ˜¬πŸ˜…
