It's been quite a while since I visited Fingal, and of course when I decide to head there, the sky was all but colourless, but it was still nice to be out.

Sonya and I did our first overnight camp at Bunya Mountains on the weekend, had a great time at this nice camp-site, and also had great weather, and scored a few fungi shots as well.

On mothers day weekend my wife and I spent a couple of days up at Oriellys Rainforest Retreat, on Saturday we went and walked the Toolona Creek Circuit, it's a decent hike of around 16.5ks, and this time after all the rain we've had, the creek crossing were a bit harder if you didn't want to get wet feet, and plenty of mud.
The rain did start to fall as we arrived at Chalahn Falls, but it was still good, but long day.

Went for another drive out to Tooloom National Park on the weekend, and scored big time with a heap of different Mushroom's and fungi, the only downside was coming home to go through 11,000 plus images, and out of all those photo's taken, I kept 30 finished images.
So why did I take so many photo's, well each finished photo can comprise of up to 200 shot's to get focus from front to back, when shooting with a macro lens, especially when shooting at 2:1 (2 times life size) the amount that is in focus at any one time can be razor thin, so you need to take a number of photo's starting at the front of the subject, I usually try and start just in front, and then let the camera keep taking photo's until the last image is a little beyond the subject, and then the photo's are uploaded to the computer, sorted, stacked together in Helicon Focus, edited and saved, and hopefully enjoyed after sharing them.
This type of photography is time consuming, but also fun.

Sonya and I had a great weekend exploring down south again, this time we made our way to Tenterfield via some dirt roads and tracks with a stop at Basket Swamp Falls before staying the night at Tenterfield, the next morning we dropped into Girraween for quick look around, and then headed to Tooloom National Park, and that's where we hit the Fungi and mushroom jackpot, we spent 2 hrs on a 20min track and could've spent more, everywhere you looked, there were Mushrooms and Fungi, and even a good sized Carpet Python that Sonya almost stepped on haha
We'll definitely be heading back there again.

Went for a trip down to washpool National Park on the weekend to check out the Mushroom and Fungi action, and it didn't disappoint, this was probably my favourite, a 45 image focus stack

Happy New Year everyone.
I can't believe it's been 9mths since I've posted anything😳
While photography has taken a back seat for most of this year, I have been out here and there, we've even taken trips to Tassy and New Zealand, so I thought I'd start the New Years with a few from last year.

Went for a drive up to Curtis Falls Tamborine Mt today, and as expected, it was super busy, but also as expected, the Lower Creek Circuit wasn't, and as nice as the falls are, the Creek circuit is a nicer walk with plenty to see, but we didn't get to take it all in, as it started to rain just after we start to make our way back, so we'll have to get back another day and explore the creek more.

On our last morning in Byfield I awoke to some amazing colours an hour and 20mins before sunrise, but by the time I got out and to the spot I found the afternoon before, that preglow had all but gone, and while it did light up again just prior to sunrise, the cloud had dissipated quite a bit and was nowhere as good as earlier, and as I was getting ready to pack up, I noticed this Dragonfly sitting on a blade of grass enjoying the sunlight, so it was out with long lens, I was trying my best to get close and not scare it off, in the end I got around 4ft away and got this shot, which is a combination of 10 images to get the whole thing in focus.
