Little Miss Houdini is finally home. š
Over the past couple of years, sheās been down to Victoria and out west into NSW, but it was time to bring her back where she belongs. Iām beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to buy her backā¦ no matter how much stress sheās already caused me. š
Our jumping career together was short, but it was unforgettable. I had plenty of fun being launched into space on more than one occasion.
Sheās still recovering from losing her foal last season and from the effects of the drought, but sheās already back to demanding everything on her terms, some things never change.
I invested so much into this mare, both emotionally and financially. Rehabbing her, only to have to retire her after everything weād been through, was one of the hardest things Iāve had to accept. At the time, not being able to afford another jumperā¦and knowing Iād spent more on vet bills trying to keep our dream alive than the cost of a lovely young Warmbloodā¦really hurt.
Life has a way of taking us where weāre meant to be, even if we canāt see it at the time.
Bringing her home was probably the worst financial decision I could makeā¦ but it was a promise I made to both her and myself, and one I knew Iād keep eventually.
For me, it has always been about more than the sport. ā¤ļø The next few months will be spent working out whatās best for her in terms of breeding or not and taking it day by day.
