Awesome day yesterday volunteering for the Gold Coast Community Christmas Lunch We welcomed over 1500 people from the community and it was great to see all the smiling faces and how much it meant to so many people. Here are a few shots from the day I took of the wonderful volunteers.

The surf here in Fiji over the past fortnight has been pretty damn special. Rather than writing a swell story I opted to write about a place that's special to me - Nabila Village. Big thanks to LOB and Ulai for taking the time to answer a few questions and of course Swellnet for the ongoing support.

Nabila is located on the water in Fiji's Momi Bay - it's a short twenty minute boat ride to Cloudbreak, Restaurants, and surrounding waves. Stickered up surf boats litter the lagoon, surfboards are strewn everywhere and surf branded clothing is donned by the locals.

I’ve always had a soft spot for surf mags. I’d read them cover to cover as a kid, putting their posters up on my wall and cutting up the smaller images laminating them onto my school books. I was saddened to see Surfer stop printing in 2022 but clung onto the hope that one day they might be back. That day has finally come and I’m over the moon to get a double spread in the mag. Kirra is one of my favourite waves in the world and this particular shot is a special one to me. Thanks Surfer for supporting my work and long live surf mags! 🤘🏽

Songs have been sung about it, movies scripted, stories written. It's an idea flirting with cheeseball cliche, that threatens to undermine the idea itself and reduce it to the merely mundane.

I was recently able to spend some time shooting with Ethan, Kurt and Bede in Fiji. Thank you Namotu Island Resort ,Fiji for putting faith in me shooting and Swellnet for the ongoing support!

In early October, Gold Coast-based photographer Josh Bystrom thought his time on Namotu was up. He'd spent a month there as staff photog, caught a number of good swells, including one that Jack Robinson, Joao Chianca, and Yago Dora had flown in for, and was ready to head home.
