So a little update as I can see I haven't posted on this page for over 2 years now!
2020 was a year I never want to repeat. It was also crunch time for me - I made the decision to close my business until further notice. It was official - I was totally burnt out and my creative visions had left me. My children lost their father, the world felt like it would never be the same again and looking after my children's mental health and my own became my only priority.
In 2019 I started working casually for AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography) in an admin/sponsor liaison role which later became a permanent part time Partnerships Coordinator role. I generally loved my position - I was predominantly helping other photographers with their journey of becoming accredited professional photographers and coordinating sponsorship for awards as well as AIPP as an institute. Unfortunately COVID hit us hard - photographers couldn't work and therefore they couldn't pay their membership fees which eventually meant AIPP was not financially viable and in November 2021 it was announced AIPP was going into voluntary administration! There goes my income source.
The timing, in hindsight, was perfect. I don't think I could have stayed in that role much longer - hearing stories every day about photographers going out of business and the knock on effect that had was really tough and was mentally draining.
I officially didn't work after late November 2021. I knew I still wasn't ready to step back into running my own photography business as my heart just wasn't in it so I took an entire month off and started writing down what I did and didn't want to do next. That took me through to the end of 2021.
After all that soul searching, I decided to try my hand at a new venture so 2022 has seen me create an online business venture which is starting to gain momentum now.
As for photography... I have been asked if I will sell images that I have previously taken - landscapes etc?
Last month I printed a canvas for my daughters apartment and people who've seen it have like it! This month I'm printing another canvas for another family member so perhaps this will become a 'thing' I do while I'm in 'retirement' from photography??
I'll post the images up soon and the sizes they are available in and perhaps you'll consider purchasing a copy if you are looking for some new artwork? Perhaps you just want to show me some love so I don't feel so 'out of touch' with the creative world anymore
