Life Through My Lens

Life Through My Lens A collection of photos I've taken over the years during my travels in Australia and overseas. Enjoy.

I love taking photos of my travels, and sharing some of these photos with you. I've travelled through much of Australia, mostly in a caravan, but still have a lot more to go. I've also travelled through various countries in Western Europe, a lot of Asia, some of the Pacific Islands, and a little in Canada/Alaska and Norway/Finland. Each region has something that fascinates and attracts me, and I love to capture interesting moments and views to sharewith others.

Here are a few sunset and two sunrise (yes, sunrise) photos of Pamamaroo Lake, Menindee, NSW. I don't often drag myself outside to take sunrise shots, but I managed to do it here.

A few photos of Pamamaroo Lake at Menindee. A lake of dead trees can also be beautiful!

A group of us recently stayed in our caravans at Pamamaroo Lake, near Menindee, NSW. We have visited this area previously and love the lake with its dead trees and sandy beaches - it's a photographer's dream at sunset and sunrise. Here are a few of the daylight ones I captured recently. Sunset and Sunrise to follow shortly. What do you think?

We just spent a couple of nights near Eden, NSW, and visited Ben Boyd Tower in Beowa National Park. The tower was built between late 1846 and 1847 by Benjamin Boyd. He was a 19th-century Scottish entrepreneur who built, then subsequently lost, a massive financial empire in colonial Australia. He is most infamous for pioneering "blackbirding"—the kidnapping and coercion of almost 200 Islanders from Vanuatu and New Caledonia to work in very poor conditions akin to slavery.

Boyd's name is carved at the top of the tower on each wall.

He was also a part of the whaling industry in nearby Kiah on Twofold Bay, where there are remnants of the whaling equipment.
