Meta is telling me to make another post.
I haven't had a chance to process any new photos yet, but I did get a little test print done of one of my latest favourites.

I print on aluminium float mounts, and prefer a high gloss finish.
Here it is!

I need to start adding new works to my website, including the online store.
When I do I'm going to have to put prices up, as printing has gotten a lot more expensive since I started.

Another of my favourites from my trip. And a re edit of one I posted at the time.

I was excited to cross the Nullabor and to see the Great Australian Bight for the first time. I've looked again, and none of my photos from the Bight excite me, I keep coming back to this shot.

The clouds and light looking north over the Nullabor were otherworldly. While it ruined my planned shots, I can't complain about this.

And it's also a great time to bring up the topic of photo editing. I often see people who brag about their images being unedited, straight out of camera. But here's the thing. There's no such thing as an unedited photograph. Unedited by the photographer, sure. But all cameras, be they a smart phone or a big fancy camera apply editing to the image.

In the olden days even if you didn't print the photo yourself, choosing the film, filters, paper was part of the process, and the person running the machine would edit the image too. Or you could do it yourself in the darkroom if you were feeling fancy.

Today's modern cameras allow you to choose a colour profile, so if you use your images straight out of camera, there's still some control. But by shooting raw files, you take in effect a digital version of a negative and you can make every decision about that image yourself.

So many times I stop to take photos of birds and they fly off.

Not this brown falcon.

Somewhere west of Alice Springs I spotted it in the tree. It sat and patiently watched me get out my camera, change lenses, then get closer and closer.

My first overnight stop after crossing the Nullabor was Lake Koorkoorbine, outside the town of Southern Cross.

I came upon it by chance. I rolled into Southern Cross at dinner time, then searched for a place to camp. I had no idea it had an almost mirror-like surface, and I got lucky with distant storms. Luckily they didn't come near me while I was sleeping in my swag!

I've been a bit quiet since returning from my trip. Recovering from the adventure, catching up with all the work at my day job.
But my new monitor has arrived, and I can finally check out my images on 27" instead of 13" so it's time to revisit it all.

It was freezing here last night but I couldn't resist the opportunity to step a little outside the camp and capture the Milky Way.

Last night was the first good view of the dark emu we've had. (The moon has been rising too early!)
Camping at Geraldton Bore just off the Gunbarrel Highway, in the Little Sandy Desert.
