After 13 years in business, I’ve spent money on some things that were absolutely worth it…

And some things that (looking back) I definitely didn’t need 👀

These are the 5 investments I genuinely think are worth the money!

(01) Brand Strategy

Not because every business needs a 50 page strategy document. Because knowing WHO you are, who you’re for and what you’re trying to build makes everything else easier.

(02) Professional photography

Especially if you’re selling an experience, expertise or transformation. People need to be able to feel the quality of what you’re offering before they’ve experienced it.

(03) Paying people who know what they’re doing

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned running a business is that I don’t need to know how to do everything.

(04) Protecting my time

This one took me a while 👀

I used to wake up and immediately check emails, messages, invoices, replies… basically letting everyone else’s priorities enter my brain before I’d even had breakfast.

I don’t do that anymore 👏🏼

(05) Getting help before I’m completely overwhelmed

There’s a difference between being resourceful and trying to do absolutely everything yourself.

I’ve done both, and I know which one I choose now 😏

Running a business is already enough. You don’t get extra points for making it harder than it needs to be 🫶🏼

I built Sikoya Design for the founder who’s tired of feeling disconnected from her own brand…

Who’s been doing it the hard way and wondering why nothing feels quite right.

Who knows she’s capable of more but doesn’t know how to get there.

I’ve been that person.

I know exactly how it feels.

And I know what’s waiting on the other side when you finally get clear.

A logo is only one small part of a brand 👀

Strong branding starts with understanding your positioning, audience, values, personality, messaging and the experience you want people to have with your business.

The visual identity should COME from that strategy… not the other way around.

This is why I approach branding (and literally everything else I do 😏) through strategy first, THEN build a visual identity that feels intentional, memorable and aligned 🤍

I didn’t grow up knowing I wanted to be a graphic designer (who does????)

Honestly… I didn’t even like graphic design when I first started learning it 👀

Arts was always my thing at school. I loved creating, making things, experimenting... but I had absolutely no idea that graphic design could become a career.

Then somewhere along the way, I got (reallllllyyyyyy) good at it.

Good enough that people started asking me to make things for their businesses.

A logo here.
A business card there.
A birthday invitation.
A photoshoot.
A flyer.

And slowlyyyy, without really planning it, Sikoya Design started taking shape 🤍

I went to uni. Kept doing design on the side. Then COVID happened and I had to decide whether I was actually going to make this my full-time thing.

I did.

13 years later, I’m very grateful that I did 🫶🏼

But the biggest shift hasn’t actually been in my design style.

It’s been in the way I think.

13 years ago, I would’ve thought my job was to make you a good logo.

Now, I’m thinking about your positioning, your customer journey, your website, your photography, your messaging, your marketing, what makes you different, where you’re going next and whether every piece of your brand actually feels connected.

The logo is just one tiny piece of that.

And honestly? That’s the part of this work I love most ✨

Getting to understand the woman behind the business, then making the outside finally feel like the inside.

It’s something I only truly understood after YEARSSS of second-guessing my own business before learning to trust the strategy behind it.

I'd be asking different questions.

+ What makes your studio different from the one down the road?

+ Is it obvious who your classes are for?

+ Could a woman who's never tried Pilates land on your website and immediately feel like she's in the right place?

+ Are you showing up in the places she's already searching?

Because here's the thing!!

Women don't wake up one day and randomly book a Pilates class (surprise surprise)

They're searching for answers 👏🏼

"Is Reformer Pilates good for beginners?"
"Can Pilates help with back pain?"
"Pilates studio near me."

Every one of those questions is an opportunity for your brand to be discovered 🤍
