I was a crazy person and decided to head out with a few photography friends for the Aurora on Wednesday night knowing I had to be up early to work in Melbourne the next day. Some times you just can’t miss an opportunity like this, no clouds and the moon hadn’t risen yet so it was the perfect conditions for Aurora photography. I managed to survive at work on 5.5 hrs sleep ok 😊

Hi everyone, I haven’t posted for quite a while here. I’m still taking photos occasionally it’s just less work to post to Instagram only. I hiked to the top of flinders peak at the You Yangs with a photography friend and took some shots of sunrise and the beautiful fog.

A few photos of Lady Aurora Australis from last night and what a night it was!

The first time we’ve seen colour with our eyes and beams, to our eyes we could mostly see pink/red and yellow but the camera has the ability to record more colour detail.

I still have more photos to look through but really happy with how these have come up.

In the first pic the small clouds look like lady auroras face - we often say lady aurora is dancing tonight when the aurora is intense with lots of beams.

I was excited to receive an email this morning to find out I had received a Top 60 award in the Australian Photography Landscape Photography Awards 2024

I’ve only ever received a highly commended or commended in a pure landscape photography competition so I’m stoked that my photography has improved and my next goal is to see if I can make top 20. It’s a tough goal, might take a few years, there are so many amazing landscape photographers in Australia.
