I recently wrote and photographed a piece for TruckSales.com.au talking to experienced drivers about what the licensing system still isn't teaching new entrants. Load restraint, braking technique, how to read traffic, trailer hook-up procedure, the unwritten etiquette of the road. There's also a broader concern from some of the old hands that the informal apprenticeship culture that once filled those gaps has quietly disappeared.
