Everyone be careful tomorrow, have everything secure.
Hopefully we miss anything severe, keep up to date with warnings.
Tuesday promises to be one of the most active severe storm days of the season!
Here we have the "big purple blob" map showing instability, or CAPE. This is the energy available to fuel thunderstorms in the atmosphere. Don't look at the details, the general trend is we have lots of instability.
But once storms start going, the instability here can play a smaller part, and the main concern is "wind shear", or strong winds turning with heigh through the atmosphere.
Combined with an upper level jet stream and we have a very dynamic atmosphere that could potentially produce long-track supercell thunderstorms tomorrow.
If these form, the towns/suburbs in the firing line could see giant hail, destructive winds, flash flooding, and the odd tornado isn't out of the question.
Possible morning showers could suppress things in the southeast, or they may not. Then we should see bigger cells taking off inland, and hurrying towards the coast, eventually ending up near the Capricornia later at night.
Either way it's best to be storm aware, and keep on top of warnings tomorrow anywhere in these red and purple areas.
